    Copper State Overland

Thanks Hank that's a fine offer but I've got a full belly, a cracklin' artificial fire, Monday Night Football, and my snuggly bride here in the bedhouse. What time do you launch in the a.m.?

    Copper State Overland

So the Rally is a fundraiser for the Phoenix Art Museum, how about that?

    Copper State Overland

So Peg and I returned to our regularly scheduled vacation at Kohl's Ranch just east of Payson after a fine day canoeing and trout fishing on Woods Canyon Lake, and I thought I'd died and gone to Classic 4WD Heaven! The 9th Annual Copper State Overland Rally are overnighting at the lodge...

    CSC Random picture thread

No but coincidentally same friend has a beat up, now undrivable (but not beyond rescue) V8-modded FJ55 in his back yard!

    CSC Random picture thread

Popped up in my Facebook feed from nine years ago. My friend's truck broke down in Newman Canyon (north of Mormon Lake and FS 132). We were down a rocky, rutted road called 132D and the tow truck wouldn't drive down to get him so my largely un-modded 80 and I pulled him up. I still have that...

    Anyone running 285/75/16 without lift?

As many have stated, I also run 285/75/R16s with no rubbing, spacers, or issues. Marked improvement in looks, slight improvement in clearance, minimal detriment to gas mileage or steering geometry. I bought five and the fifth fits fine in the spare slot, including with the "raised spare tire".

    You've been spotted

Cool lineup at Red Garter on Speedway (Tucson) tonight. Evidently I'm not the only one who knows where to find Sunday Night Football and some of the best hamburgers in town! Say hi to Peggy photobombing from my PS.

    Unit 23 Muledeer Hunt II

Haha no did not sniff it. I did stop multiple times on FS 202 to pick up some twenty pieces of aromatic, cut and dried juniper that had bounced off someone's flatbed; will burn nicely in my fireplace this winter. One of my hunting partners saw a nice three-by whitetail buck on Black Mesa just...

    Unit 23 Muledeer Hunt II

Continuing from Unit 23 Muledeer Hunt. We backtracked down FS 203 to turnoff to FS 202 and headed north. Nice muledeer habitat down FS 2907 (Spring Canyon) but not a lot of space. Continued up over Hog Mountain and now above 5000' in elk habitat with many alligator junipers and scrub oaks...

    Unit 23 Muledeer Hunt

A few pics from Unit 23 Muledeer Hunt. Muley's were scarce; only one of three of us tagged out. Gorgeous country though, Tonto National Forest north of Salt River and between Sierra Ancho Wilderness Area and the White Mountains / Fort Apache Reservation. We took FS 203 (Cherry Creek Rd) off...

Builds What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week?

Last week while hunting in Tonto National Forest north of Roosevelt Lake and the Salt River (Unit 23) I found myself concerned about gas and range (imagine that). Backtracked to Tractor Supply in Globe where I outfitted my rig with this cheap but safe and reasonably solid "extended range" mod...

New LC 200(?) Rolls 20 Times Off Mingus Cliff

Couple of useful notes published in Yavapai Co. Sheriff's Office media release (January 12, 2021): Note – In both the incidents shared today, electronic location services provided a critical lifeline to connect those stranded and injured with YCSO rescue teams and medical personnel. Cell...

The definitive, "Found a good deal on CL" thread

That is a random-looking automobile! Some very nice work but calling a '91 an Impala is a bit of a stretch, it was originally a Caprice Classic. I think I'd be marketing it just as a Chevy Custom. I owned a '94 Impala SS from 95-05.

Builds What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week?

Just returned from Unit 30A rifle mule deer hunt in Cochise Co's San Bernardino Valley. A few gnarly old ranch trails; added more pin striping. More hunters than we'd ever seen out there; many more than there were bucks. Favorite night was bivying out alone under stars and waking, fixing my...

Builds What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week?

Yeah, engine temps. So I've driven my 80 for six years--mostly stock, I have replaced radiator and hoses and fresh Toyota coolant--a little disconcerting to hear it boiling when I raise the hood after some good backcountry climbing. Always seems to cool down and no long term issues. Normal?
