Crazy Idea

Maybe its crazy maybe not. But what do you guys think about trying to organize a big time trail ride. A lot of the clubs have one like the Lone Star Roundup for texas, as an example. What if we organized one and started something up. I'm sure a lot of people from like Ga, NC, and other areas around the south would come, and maybe some straglers from further away. Could be pretty cool thing to try and put together and we do have some reasonable areas around.

where would we do it? don't have a huge orv park nearby, really....

and i don't think mtn estates would be that prime of an area, ha ha

i'm down, and think it would be cool, but we'd need to find someplace that would draw some people, maybe do it jointly with the guys in ga (rusty seals...)

What about burrels ford where that huge field is JP Ghen Chuck and I were riding through the mud on the one end. It right at the bottom of the trail. And its supposed to go all the way to cashiers which has to be like 15 or 20 miles. Ride it to cashiers then have a poker run type thing back or something. Then there are still a couple other trails right around there.

Well it seems like there is a general lack of support for this idea so I guess it will be scrapped now.

I will mention to some of the guys here in NC, think it's a good idea, depending on the rigs Uwharrie might not be worth some guys to drive to, not as challenging and much smaller than tellico. Keep us posted

Uhwarrie would be ok but I really think we could od it in the upstate. It wouldnt be as hardcore as tellico or anything but that makes it a little more accessible to guys whose rigs aren't as built up. And we have some fun places to go that I think could make for a good outting. A little wheeling a little relaxing around the fire with some beverages and some good company. Get the upstate name out and maybe make a few dollars or something.

I like the idea, but I think we lack any real places to host much of a crowd............but I think this is a good idea more along the lines of it could anual trail ride for the club. We have I believe somewhere around 50 memebers yet I have wheeled with about 1/10th that on a regular basis. We need a designated wheeling/ camping trip............ compared to what I have seen with other clubs our members for the majority are not much in to the off-road action.......I personally would like to change that. Monthly meeting and getting together to shoot the breeze is fun, but these are landcruisers..............they are meant for more than sonic drive-ins. We all know the Mafia is going to be out there on the trail as is Marshall and Alex, we just need to get the others out there as well.............. with the elections up coming we need to get some one in there who is more off-road oriented, just my 2 cents..................

I like the idea of a southeast trail ride. I think the goal should be to get as many cruisers together as possible. Meaning a medium trail ride, think about our trip to Mt. estates...took us all day and didn't get very far. Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat. But I think if we are goin to get a large group together the goal would be to go a long distance, and enjoy the campfire and beer at night without destroying the mechanics on our vehicles. So I like Rudy's idea, have a fun run where we can have a good ride and enjoy ourselves at night around the campfire. Just my thoughts. Chuck

yeah you are right but where do we have it??? mountain estates, not likely, the hushole it private property now...........large events there would be asking for trouble, the idea of the trail ride from bruells ford to cashiers, nc has the most potential but I just don't see people driving from other clubs when they could be in Tellico in about the same time it takes to get here.............and Tellico offers a superior experience, I am not trying to kill the idea, I just don't see what we have to offer.........

I think the point of it would kinda be that its not in Tellico and its more accessible to everyone even if there rig isnt built up. Because lots of people like to go out but they dont want to slam against the rocks either. It would be just a fun mildly challenging run, as much for the camping and socializing as for the wheeling.

well the problem is tellico offers terrain like that also it ranges from mild to wild.............. but I see what you are getting at. I believe that the bruels ford to cashiers holds the most promise........get it going rudnicki, I'll back you

I think you and I and anyone else interested will need to make the run one weekend this fall and check it out first hand. All the way up to NC. Evaluate the possibilities, and down a few beverages to help us think about it properly.

You kids crack me up

I'd suggest knowing a little more before you sound off
on this club's "other" members and their wheeling skills.
Mine's bigger than yours isn't what UC is about. Our
tent has room for all including you bragging youngsters.
Go for it my friends. I'm sure ya'll know better than
us old farts as to how to do things.
Dissing your fellow club members isn't a good way to start.
I'm personally sorry that UC isn't what you want.
My offer of the $10 refund stands. No hard feelings.
Of course you can vote this rascal out at the next annual meeting.
Till then, all are welcome here.

???????

Ok, I don't think anyone was dissin anyone here in the club.

First, the goal of this post is to get a trail ride together, one that will allow the new guy who just bought a stock rig all the way up to, and I'll use Marshal as an example, his big rig to go out for a weekend and be able to cover a decent distance and have a good time. Like I said before, we all had fun at Mt. estates last time, but I think we all would agree that went on that trip, that if we had 40 cruisers on that trip a lot of people's time would of been wasted. Just because of the breakdowns and such. Now it was fun with us cause we all know eachother and had fun tryin to help eachother out, and now we can look back at it and smile. Where as tellico, which I've never been, but understand it to be several trails, not sure how long either, but if you break down they get you off the trail and then you trailer it home or fix it. But there are a lot more cruisers to watch. Where-as our goal is a long distance trip with minor breakdowns..(is there such a thing with cruisers..lol).

Second, The last big ride I remember being on was the Mustard Ground run at Duke Power. There were a lot of cruisers there that day, and I would like to see more of that, I mean that was a fun day and it was great to have that big a crowd from UC. Now I know everyone can't make every ride. I'm a perfect example, but if we're goin to make a meeting why not make them a trail ride and bring lunches, like we did at the grounds. Or we could even do like trail ride in the morning/noon finishing at aunt sue's or esso, or where ever. That way if someone couldn't make the wheeling then they could make the dinner and here the stories of carnage from the trip. And I hope that people will go whether or not they wanna take there own rig. I mean people are always welcome to ride in my rig, some guys that is there DD and if it get's broke they aint goin to work on monday. I understand that, but jump in and ride shotgun, I'll bump your head against the ceiling a few times.

So let's just have a fun time, we have the baddest vehicle around and have the prettiest places around to take them!

Later Dudes, Chuck

man david this is the second time you have gotten all offended or atleast you seem disgruntled when the talk of more trail rides comes up......Why??? I wasn't attacking anyone, I was just expressing the feeling of myself and other members that we really don't get out much and use or cruisers as much as we would like too. I enjoy the monthly meetings around the upstate and wouldn't want them to stop, but at the same time I would like to see the club add more trail rides, is that such an outragous request to make in this club??????

Offering me my money back is not the response I expect from the VP of the club towards my desire to get out and off-road with my fellow members, to me personally it is rather insulting and why would you want to turn away members??? Is my request really that out of line?????

I am not trying to radically change or take the club by any means.......rather I just really enjoy the people I have meet through the club.......and I feel it would be great to get out more together as a club.......

rereading over my posts I don't see where I was bragging and sounding off, or more importantly dissing my fellow club members............if it came across that way I am sorry, again because I honestly value and enjoy the friends I have made through Upstate Cruisers and hope to meet more people and gain more experiences.............

All I ask is be a little more open to the idea of increasing our cruiser outtings and don't feel like I am dissing the club or that I am trying to prove "mine is bigger" because what I enjoy most about Upstate is the same as you do the friendships and the experiences shared with those friends

I've never

opposed MORE of anything. I do resent the reference to
current BOD needing a wheeler . Nuff said.
I have tried to incorporate everyone into this club and
sought only to fulfill their Cruiser needs.
I really do appreciate all input. Just don't whine about
what's not happening. Do something. That is what
I love about the new blood. You guys want more action.
ROFLMAO.....the members once complained that all
I wanted to do was wheel. Therein is the Pisgah Run
and the monthly Sonics. THE CLUB wanted that.
They voted it in.
I have been supportive to all.
The Snow Run was my idea. I do this yearly.
MG each year.
HP yearly.
Pisgah Run
BF yearly.
GSMTR for like 9 years now.
Wrenching meets
Annual meet
River Falls road
Monthly dinners
I ain't complaining, but damn Man, give some credit.
Club events should as much as possible be for all.
I beg you to find where I shot down an idea.
I always say "go for it!" If I can help let me know.
A major event would be fun. Let me know.
Post up any wheeling trips. I may attend.
THAT'S how it goes. Do it. Don't bitch about what others
ain't doing for you. I'm behind anything that gets Cruiserheads together.
Off my soap box.
I still love you guys.
Oh, yeah, and mine is bigger than your's.
We'll all get together after GSMTR and see if we can't make you kids happier.
I promise.
Look, I ain't mad, I just sound that way when I mount a defense.
hehe....old habit
Let's do ME after GSMTR .
Gundy's ready.

How this post took a right turn I have no idea.

Truthfully I cannot comment since I haven't even paid my 10$. Well I tried but was told to do it some other time and not to worry about it. I have no experience in knowing how the club works since I have only been around for 3 months. But I have participated in everything we have done in the club and out of the club that has to do with Land cruisers except for GSMTR due to conflict with me seeing going to Charlotte to watch the Race this weekend. (I know I have my priorities all screwed up).

Well it is hard to gauge intent with text and not talking face to face; it is often easy to misunderstand.........

If you aren't opposed to changes and so forth and are behind anything that gets cruiserheads together I believe you. Of all the elected officials that I know of you are the one from what I see that is the most active in getting things going and keeping everyone informed.......I think you do a great job and I personally think you are a good guy.......

But you have to understand both times this subject has been brought up you get defensive, as if you are being personally attacked, which is the not the case. Also like I said both times you tell if I am not happy I can have my money back and go else where; instead any discussion or accomidation of the idea.................like I said just not what I expected.

And I am not out to get you david, I was thinking more along the lines of you for Prez ........... and on the note of positions do we have any Event planner position?

Also this is not bitching/wining here sir.............. I do attend to a complish something here, and I think I am not alone on this when it comes to getting more trail rides together, ones that are for all cruisers and abilities

I also I have not blamed others for the lack of trail rides, I have only expressed the desire for more outings........it is not if I said "damn that david(or whoever) for not planning more wheeling......."

Well I guess we have both gotten on our "soap boxes" enough, I look forward to seeing you at the big June meet..........wanna wheel afterwards?????

Damn you guys I dont get on mud for 12 hours and you turn my post about a fun run with some mild wheeling into a bunch of bitching. I dont think anyone was attacking anyone from what I read just voicing their opinions which we are all entitled to. We all agree that UC wouldn't be half of what it is without David it might not even exist, and we all want lots of outtings and get togethers. We just need to arrange them which is what I started this whole thing for in the first place.
As for elections, what exactly are the positions David? I think most would agree that president needs to be addressed. And we should create a position for events if one doesnt exist to remedy just this situation which we are in. And did we decide on first weekend in June for this? And if so can you send an email out early to help people plan it into their schedule more maybe?

i think everybody needs to chill a bit, and not worry about elections or crap like that....

we're a club, not some elite social organization, and quite frankly, i'll be disappointed if any more 'politikin' happens.

maybe i'm missing the point of the arguement, but i do know that this whole thing doesn't bode well for anybody lookin in on the forum, trail-ride or not.

and eff elections in general, i'm an engineer not a poli-sci major....and i really don't want that crap creepin into what i think is a lot of fun; workin on my truck and hangin out with all y'all upstate guys.
