Australian Shepherd puppy needs a good home

I have what I believe to be a 3-4 month old Australian Shepherd puppy that needs a good home. I came across this little girl this past Saturday. She was running around a dumpster in the pouring rain on the side of a fairly busy road. I took her home, gave her a bath, and now am looking for a home for her.

She is very sweet, fairly smart, and gets along and plays well with my lab/hound mix. She is pretty skinny so I've been trying to feed her a good bit to fatten her up. She doesn't mind you taking her food away. She loves to play but then will love to lay beside you on the couch or in your lap. She doesn't bark too much randomly but will play bark at other dogs at times.

She loves her crate too. I think she looks at it as her little, secure area.

She doesn't mind a leash. I would also call her housebroken. She potties when you take her outside. I delayed too long taking her for a walk this weekend and she went inside and was horrified.

I haven't had her to the vet yet but her belly isn't swollen so I don't think she has a horrible case of worms like the last two rescues I picked up were. Her teeth (still puppy teeth) look very clean and her eyes look clear. Her ears are cleaned but I've cleaned them again to be safe.

She is about 10 lbs now and probably should be around 12 lbs. I'm guessing she will end up around 40 pounds or so? Not really sure as I've never had an Australian Shepherd before and I don't know her lineage.

This little girl is so sweet that I want for her to go to a good home. Since I think she has a good bit of Australian Shepherd in her she will probably want to run a little.

I would keep this little girl but Ali and I already have two dogs and are a bit taxed to give them enough of our time. If I only had one dog right now this little puppy would be mine.

Here is some info from Wikipedia on Australian Shepherds.

"For decades Aussies have been valued by stockmen for their inherent versatility and trainability. While they continue to work as stockdogs and compete in herding trials, the breed has earned recognition in other roles due to their trainability and eagerness to please, and are highly regarded for their skills in obedience. Like all working breeds, the Aussie has considerable energy and drive, and usually needs a job to do. It often excels at dog sports such as dog agility, flyball, and frisbee. They are also highly successful search and rescue dogs, disaster dogs, detection dogs, guide, service, and therapy dogs. And, above all, they can be beloved family companions.

The Australian Shepherd is a medium sized breed of solid build. The standard calls for the Australian Shepherd to stand between 18-23 inches at the withers. Females being 18-21 inches and males measuring 21-23 inches."

Please let me know if you or anyone else wants this puppy. You can reach me through MUD, or at Steve@TwoSpringsLLC.com.

I really have no clue what she is besides what Ali said and what the Vet said.

She looked like a drowned rat when I picked her up.

John called me this evening and said she fit in well at the office. He went to look for her and she was curled up asleep under his desk.

I wonder what she will grow up to look like...

she's an awesome little pup. I thikn she'll do just fine if the neighbors don't steal her. They have 2 border collies and she went crazy playing with them last night. Took her to the office again this am, had to look for her again....found her asleep under a chair in my office. We don't even know she's around. She runs straight to my little boy and him to her. Gonna be a good thing.

I've had labs and big dogs my whole life but I have to admit, this little dog is pretty cool. I've had her at work the last few days to get her use to being around people. This is all she does all day...

If the vet was right that she is only 10 weeks old then she could put on some good size still, especially with how skinny she is.

Have you named her yet?

very cute dog.

I have an aussie, very smart/stubborn dog that likes to stay right under your feet. Should she inherit these traits they can be a very fun combination!

If i go outside to work on anything and my 18month old son decides to stray Dingo does a great job of herding him back to me...when he's not sleeping.

Glad she found a good home.
