I see them pretty often around here. Often on the porch screens. The females are huge for a bug.
I think these are commonly referred to as Giant Walking Sticks. Strange critters.
They mimic a Praying Mantis...in reverse. They hold the rear up and the final appendage resembles a praying Mantis head with folded arms. The head is held down with the business end arms held
length wise along the head till.....SNAP.....gotcha.
I love the way they sway when moving like a stick in a breeze. Those two stayed that way for hours.
I wonder if the female eats the male like Mantis.
