It's just something about a 40

The smell of axle grease seems to set a proper mood for more than Gearheads it seems.
Especially when it's a FJ40 wheel.
Ain't love grand?

Walking sticks? I've always thought that they were the coolest bugs. Did you know that there are very few male walking sticks and that the females can reproduce without any male assistance? Parthenogenesis. It's very rare to see a male. Kinda cool.

Stick chicks dig 40's.

I see them pretty often around here. Often on the porch screens. The females are huge for a bug.
I think these are commonly referred to as Giant Walking Sticks. Strange critters.
They mimic a Praying Mantis...in reverse. They hold the rear up and the final appendage resembles a praying Mantis head with folded arms. The head is held down with the business end arms held
length wise along the head till.....SNAP.....gotcha.
I love the way they sway when moving like a stick in a breeze. Those two stayed that way for hours.
I wonder if the female eats the male like Mantis.
I did not know the info you provided. Very neat to know.
