This may count me out.
I'll try to rearrange the Scout trip.
I planned this in July when the Annual was on the 19th.

Sure we welcome out of towners! I am assuming that the camping trip is pretty much nailed down to this date - Sept 11-13.
Its just the UC Annual event date that is up in the air at this point.

I just got back from Black Balsam, man I love that place!! The over night low was around 55 , the day time high was about 75. I hiked the road again today, it is rough and rocky, narrow in places, it will be very slow going (4lo 1st and 2nd gear most of the way) I figure about 1.5-2 hours off road driving of course this will vary on the number of trucks that we have.
We ( + ) are in for breakfast and the meeting Saturday morning then we are going to head up to Black balsam from there to camp Saturday night I am going to change the first post so that the caravan will saturday morning will start from Aunt sue's and not the TR Walmart. There is plenty of camping at Table rock state park which is close to Aunt Sue's for those that Might be interested.
As far as dog's go, they will have a blast, just be mindful that this is a very popular area so bring a leash or tie out, like I have posted before after about 5:00pm we should have the place to ourselves.

The caravan will start at Aunt Sue's on Saturday morning NOT the TR Walmart. Please not this change.

New plan:
The camping trip with delta will remain the same.
The Annual Meeting is moved back to Sept. 19th.
Very sorry for the confusion. The annual has been on the calander for quite some time and we've (BOD) have decided to keep with the original plan.
We'll make sure we do a better job next year. An email will be sent out shortly regarding the camping trip to Black Balsam as well as the annual. If you do not receive an email, please click here and update your contact info.

Let me get this right:
Black Balsam Camping - Sept 11 - 13
UC Annual Meeting - Sept 19
Low Country Boil - Sept 25 - 27
Correct?

VERY busy - which is my fault. Things stacked up really tight. I didn't realize when I tried to adjust the Annual date that it would overlap Beasley - on me.
At least we are busy during some cooler weather.

Lemme ask a stupid question. Do I need to put on knobbies for Black Balsam or can I make it on my road tires?
Here's the deal: If I have to change to the Swampers I'll leave them on and do the ONSC run at URE. If I can leave the Dunlops on I can do Carolina Beach with the LCLC crowd. I don't feel like changing out tires every other week.
I'm thinking M&S tires (aired down if necessary) plus lift will probably handle Black Balsam, but I haven't seen it. Is that the trail from the BR Parkway out past Shining Rock?

We backpacked it this spring. Not too much mud more a rocky trtail. only a few big rocks(3/4 across the trail) that are a little off camber.Lots of medium size. but you can go around them. I was thinking, boy I wish this trail was open, I would love to drive it in the 62 now.(with 31" BFG A/T)

Bill you should have no problem with your road tires.... unless things have really changed since I was up there.

OK, we are about a week away, the gate is open and the weather is cool ! I would still like to get a head (or hood) count for the folks that are planning on attending.
