I would think the best way to fix that seal would just to take the t-case off. Having never done a split case I'm not sure how hard it would be. Might be a good time to break out the fsm and do some reading. I'm gonna be doing that tonight to make sure I cover everything on the axle rebuild.
|
Called Rick at RHT and they don't have the seal (shoulda ordered when we were there ) Anyway, it won't be in until Monday, so don't worry about the tranny jack, unless someone else needs it. I'll check my fluids tonight to make sure I'm not running dry. Looks like I'll be watching/helping others this HAMOM.
Thanks!

Am I the only one that doesn't know where I'm going? I've looked in this thread and I know it's at Alans, and that it sits at the bottom of Ceasar's Head, but that's still a big area. Got any more specifics for the newbies in the house?

276 towards ceasars head. Take left on hwy 11 then take right on hwy 8 dogwood mountain rd is on right. House is middle house gravel drive to the right leads to the tent and shop. DOn't worry about pissing the neighbors off they are all family.

trying to decide which cruiser to bring...... is anyone else going to do some scouting/wheeling on Sat. afternoon??? I really want to do some wheeling in the 40 but obviously I don't want to wheel alone; so if no one else is going to wheel I will just drive the nice cushy 80
so who is on the action

I talked with Scott this morning. He is going to be bringing up the steam pressure washer for us to use as well as a press. That should make our lives a lot easier. Now if I can just fit everything in my 80 we will be good to go.
I'll bring the sazaw, torch, and a couple grinders.
I've also printed out copies of the axle section of the FSM for 40's, 60's, and 80's
Anything else we need? Anyone have a sink? perferably white double bowl with a good disposal. I think that would be the only thing we are not bringing.

If your replacing the seal, you might as well do clutch/bearing while its out...I lowered my tranny/transfer from the topside instead of using a tranny jack.
Wish I could make this one but traveling toooooo much lately.

I will try to make it up Saturday. I'm new to the club and need to put some names to faces. Can anyone recommend who to get power steering hardware from or point me to a thread about power steering for an FJ-40. Thanks Brad

cool karl, sounds like rick is in too so that is atleast 3 rigs which is more than enough to give me reason to drive up the 40............ I haven't wheeled since the whee
I talked with marshall about it yesterday and I think we might head out for the scouting after lunch at table rock since we will already be about half way there at that point

I have the wheeling itch BAD so I'm in.
Also, I'll bring my 2 jackstands in case someone else needs them, and most of my handtools (no need for dem stinkin' SAE sizes). I've also got a big honkin' ratchet I'll bring. Anything else in particular that we're missing? I don't have one of those double bowl sinks lying around, sorry Marshall...
I'm going home for dinner with the es, so I expect to be there between 7&8 tonight.

i'm still wiring the cruiser, so I don't think it's going to make it. I ended up pre-wiring a lot of things that I plan to add later. I'll stop by tomorrow for a few 's tomorrow though regardless.

Sounds good JP! I wish Musterground was open. Anyone gotta key for it?? That would be sweet. I'm not aware of any trails at Table Rock though, so that could be fun!
I've got a Jack and Stands if anyone needs them for the wkend. Eventhough I won't make it today, I can probly still send them up with Steve or he can take them tomorrow. Anyone think you'll need them or anything else? I'm mainly just coming to have a cpl drinks, tell some lies, and learn what I can.

Marshall, Marshall, Marshall
It sounded like Jan Brady complaining but it was really cries for help, advise and was always answered with tech help that exceeded all my expectation. I want to thank Marshall for pulling my sorry butt through this, I could have never done it by myself. He is a LC guru as far as I am concerned. Thanks also to steve for his help, made a big difference. By the way, ran out of paper towels finally, needed about 10 more. Next time I'll bring two boxes and help the next guy out. Appreciate all the complements I got on my 60, just need a few more things that are "on the list".Thinking tires,,,,,,gotta buy a tin tepee too in the mean time.
Thanks again for ALL the help, even if it was just pointing one of the fans at me cuz you felt sorry for guy sweating like a pig!!
