Brock told me about tread right tires anyone have any thoughts on them. On the site they have 3 options for 31x10.5x15. Which one of the Mt is the old style brf m/t

Dont listen to Jeremy....a Land Cruiser deserves to be driven and look where that got him. LOL

The retreads of today are nothing like they were in 70s and 80s that littered the highways and byways. The technology is sound in proper application and are used by military in their large vehicles as well as both military/commercial aircraft tires. That is right....airplanes carrying hundreds of people making landings and takeoffs are running recaps as new tires are too expensive to swap out every instance.

If you read the reviews and do some searching on google....and read what people that HAVE ACTUALLY USED THEM say, not the ones that are crying the sky is falling like Jeremy.......you will be hard pressed to hear anything bad about them....it just is not an issue.

They only use top of the line tire casings...and over and over people say that when they take them to be mounted...the technicians dont realize they are retreads until a smart one realizes the Toyo or Nitto casing has a Goodyear or BFG MT tread pattern and get a funny look on their face.

Treadwright retread tires now available in 35s and 37s! - Expedition Portal Forum

There are also cases of them not balancing....or a flat spot every now and then....but everyone has said the customer service was exceptional. If you are going to bash them from personal experience (not a brothers cousins girlfriends father and lover) then fine...but to jump on the RECAPS WILL END IN FIERY DEATH is unfair and uneducated.

Would I put them on a farm rig, wheeling rig, or weekend rig...without a doubt. Would I put them on a FJ Cruiser or other newer Land Cruiser....if I could not put down the cash for a full set of BFG, Nitto or Dick Cepek tires......yes. Rather than have it sit in yard like Ben Mara for two years...I would definitely give the Treadwright tires a look. Proper inflation, proper rotation every 3-4k miles....I would have no issues in driving on them every day. I have looked at the info from actual owners of TreadWright tires and reviews by Land Rover, Expedition Portal and others....and the PROS are like 99.9% to the CONS at .1%

If you want to save some money and get a good quality tire....I would not hesitate. I would prefer Treadwright tires with BFG or Toyo casings to getting cheap off brand tires from the corner tire guy...that is for damn sure.

Hell...people still buy Firestone tires after they blew up and killed people in wrong application.....the new Destination II Mud Terrains are outstanding tires in themselves....so just read the data and reviews and decide for yourself...you cant argue with the price and the quality casings and multiple positive reviews even with a couple negatives in the mix. Most problems as reported by DOT are thought to be caused by overheated tires due to poor inflation or overloading beyond rated capacity (ie, trucker tires).

Jeep owners seem to really like them.

Good argument Brock, but I grew up at a tire store and I was always taught to buy new. Maybe the great deal I got on tires had something to do with it.

Me personally, saving $150 on a set of treads isn't worth it.

I would pay special attention to the carcass that they are using. (old) BFG's are already weak in the sidewalls. MTR's are very strong, and I would bet the MTR copies are not near as strong in the sidewall on these retreads.

Show me a review of this tire aired down to under 12 psi pinched on a rock and then I would consider these over new MTR's or new BFG KM2's.

Jeremy

There is a €300 difference and the reviews are good. I would not air mine down below 20 psi since I don't have bead locks. For what I want to do with my truck and how I drive they will do fine. This is not for a dd.

Would you go with the old bfg or Goodyear mtr.

No joking aside blows outs are not fun, but airplanes and the hummer use them. I also have some multi Mile tires on my car and I am religious about tire pressure and I have blown out 2 of the 4. These were new tires when I got them. I tell people I got the blow out specials.

I knew you would go with the JEEP thing but really expected a purple FJC comment instead....LOL

I know I have had plenty of Dunlops and BFG AT pop, puncture and come apart over the years....I still believe it is more a matter of tire pressure and load on highway driving....and for offroad they would not build up enough heat to cause an issue unless you are smoking them on a rock climb...but any tire will blow if enough heat is applied. Just check out bike week and the high dollar Avon's betting peeled back at SuckBangBlow...LOL

At $100-120 each for a tire there...it wold be like $500 savings for a full set.

Here is one of their most expensive....E rated carcass with a copy of BFG MT KM1 or Goodyear MT tread.... for $140 normal but on sale for $117 now with MT from BFG, Goodyear, Nitto, Dick Cepek and others typically going for $210-240 each.

It is another option for those looking for value and performance...much same as going Toyota OEM motor mounts for $105 each or aftermarket Toyota motor mounts for $50 each. Some things are truly better quality with Toyota parts but is there really much difference in motor mounts for over twice the cost?

I never air down below 20psi anyhow...and two weeks ago at 22psi my 60 series did not spin a tire climbing the same rocks and terrain that others down to 15psi in 40s, 80s, and 100s rig did....I never felt need to go below 22psi in my FJC and I did Daniel three times in it. Just sayin....hahahaha even if it is purple FJC...:)

Oh this is about onroad performance, I'm sorry I thought this was an offroad forum. By all means run'em, but I was just making sure you were aware of what they are made of.

They are used bridgeston Revo carcasses, which have a 2 ply polyester sidewall. Engineered for hwy use, not for offroad punctures on roots, rocks etc.

The tread is a copy of the MTR, and in no way is it anywhere close to the same soft compound as the real MTR's.

And the BFG tread look alike is just a Courser MT tread.

Pay no mind to me, I am just back to my old self now that my father in law is doing better and my wife found a teaching job up here yesterday.

Now I can move the cruiser up here and get her finished.

I am wheeling to bet my old rusty fj62 will out run on and off road your imaginiary Land Cruiser.

Jk but when will we see your truck. Seriously

For the truck I want them for it is for off road use mostly I am not going to California on retreads. But the retreads really get people up in arms.

I think retreads are just as safe as craigslist tires. I am going to call tread right and find out I the tires are dot approved and shipping cost. At the end of the day I may get new bfg at for my 4 runner and put the old ones on the land cruiser

LOL, it has been a stressful 3 years which is why my cruiser is still imaginary. Leaving on the 18th for California for a month isn't going to help matters either.

However, the fact that the wife got a job yesterday means I have the final finances to get her on the road SOON!

Maybe we need to plan a final HAMOM when I get back to button her up and breack some champagne on the bumper.

On the tires, I am not sure of any safety issues with the retreads, I was mainly stating that the puncture resistance of the carcasses are less than ideal for my taste in an off road rig.

However, I also would never run old BFG KM's or BFG AT's offroad. Nor would I run any generic Fireston/Bridgeston AT offroad.

Stick with companies that know there offroad market, BFG recently figured it out on the KM2's and the Krawlers and BAJAS have always been phenomenal.

For price, resistance, and offroad ability you can't go wrong with anything with INTERCO on the side. However most people want a little better ride. but, you can't have it all.

Brock, how many BFG AT and old KM's do you think Daniel has claimed? You were smart to get the new KM2's and even smarter to keep it above 20 psi.

My goal to you guys is to have a video posted of my rig running under it's own V8 power before I leave for California.

Jeremy

A proof of life would be good Belmont. I called treadright got an attractive sounding knowledible female. She told me the tires are dot approved. They will also let you specify the carcus they use 2 ply or 3 ply. But with shipping and install iam looking at a 140 dollar difference between the retread mt or new general a/t km2. I am kinda on the fence. But I may go for the retreads.

Not bad. If you do, obviously get the 3 ply, and keep the air up on anything other than mud. Regardless of which tire you go with, keep a plug kit and an air source onboard. Or travel with Brock, he's got it all.;)

If anyone wants proof that my truck exists and runs, just ask French in the baby s*** FJ45. He has been with me driving it before.

you not been offroad since you got accosted at the rest stop off I95 by those two guys with no teeth....

They do not use only bridgestone carcasses....a good friend got a full set with Nitto carcasses from the Terra Grappler and they are some of the toughest carcasses out there.

Okay...glad you are back to your ball busting, know it all, and non wheeling self.....glad to have you back. I know BBQBoy has missed you as he tries as hard as possible to NOT BUY a new Land Cruiser. :D :D:princess:

Jeremy

who is French? That guy that used to do stuff with us and nobody has seen since we helped with his roll cage in the baby s*** french fry burning Cruiser?? LMAO :grinpimp::steer: Like that is a reliable source....better than Ben "yard ornament" Mara but I got faith young Ben will join the club one day and spend $15 on Land Cruiser rather than new LED Lights for his tuner car. :D:flipoff2:

LMAO, yard ornament, tuner car.

I knew I was going to get a comment about him being as tangible as my cruiser. Iwas going to say it, but wanted to see what your line would be.

My place in Charleston was a company condo.

My house in Myrtle Beach has been for sale for 9 months now. It's a long story about my living situation for the past 3 years, so I will save it for a beer in person one day.

Jeremy

I always knew that one weekend of gay sex with Bessinger BBQ Sauce all over you was going to come back and bite you in the ass....no pun intended :D :D

I got to put together some shelves and do some work.

Where is BBQ boy he has been Mia lately. I think he has been depressed about his Prius. Once I figure out what I am doing with my Fj62 I will probably spring for the retreads.

I was serious Belmont my fj62 will smoke your yard queen.

I also think it is funny how Brock always brings gay sex into the mix.

But if you need a Hamon where and when

My truck is driving over logs in the back yard with no seats or front sheet metal your rig can only dream of crossing. Have you seen what I've done?:flipoff2:

First of August works for me.

OK crack heads.
Sherman, I have been here. I have made about 10 post this month.
Brock, I am the smart one here. being interested in Politics has made me fear that the sky is falling. i am more worried about a double dip in the economy, which will effect me being able to pay for the damn thing. Business still is down and I still haven't gotten part of my paycheck back. However if a real nice 100 comes around just like the one that was sold from under me (I had cash in hand but the seller wouldn't return my calls because Brock intercepted) then I will buy. I am not interested in buying something that I am going to just settle for.
BTW. the Prius is gone.
