August 8, 2009 Monthly Meeting

Our August Meeting is being held at Sparks Toyota in Myrtle Beach. Multiple emails have been sent from the club calendar so all members should be aware of it at this time. I will recap:

1- Show up around 10am 'ish....meet and greet and such.
2- Around 11am we will have meeting and something to eat for lunch
3- Around 12-12:30pm we will head to service bay area for a tech session and talk with technician. He is going to do something on an FJ Cruiser...but ask any questions you want whether it is mechanical or about them doing a repair or aftermarket upgrade for you....
4- Pictures, check out rigs, talk about whatever......

Plan on being done around 1:30pm.......

Lots to discuss about Lowcountry Boil and upcoming elections....still need some volunteers to help make this thing work.

Here are directions:

I got the email yesterday when I checked my account, but I was thinking the meeting was going to be next friday for some reason. Don't know why I marked that day on my calendar. I have already made arrangements to work on the cruiser that day, but I will atleast show up for lunch to talk about the Boil. Got no need to stare at the underside of an FJ.

It's only been 10 months, but good to know you are keeping roll.

I attended the only one that ya'll did during the week at JB's and will attend the only one that ya'll will have in MB. Can't help it, I am not going to drive all the way back 2 hours on a sat. just to see you bozos. I did attend the very first LCLC event we ever had, how about you vice prez? j/k Not much point being to involved when you don't even have a rig to drive.

I might as well move over to UC'ers if I have to move to Columbia in a few weeks. The office just dropped that bomb on me last thur. We'll see.

Might be, if it is truly a promotion that they are offering then I will go. I am not leaving the coast however just to do the same job for the same money though. I guess I'll be closer to Gulches and other playgrounds though.

I need to go to ATP and finish breaking in my 1911 with some defense rounds before my permit gets here. You want to go sometime next week?

Damn, you old timers love busting my balls don't you. How bout get on Mooker, he lives here and I don't he has ever attended a single meeting.

I was in school in Charleston that day cramming for a monday morning Cal. II final. Hardest class I have ever taken in my life, so no I didn't make your little Surfside jaunt.

Anyways, I'll be at Sparks. I just will probably be late or leave early. Hope everyone else can make it.

Jeremy

After a little mixup with dates....we finally got our meeting going. Turnout was fair....with DBENKE, DOC, GREG, SCOTT, Dave and Claire, and myself in attendance.

We all parked to left side of Sparks....and someone readily noticed that my right rear shock was hanging. Hate when I am hanging like that... LOL

So surmised my bolt came out on drive up or going through parking lot as was not like that this morning or yesterday. Parts dept did not have the bolt and washer but could order. So dug through spare bolt bin they had for a suitable substitue. Jamie (Sparks Internet Parts Mgr) found a bolt with some washers that would work.

I put one in and saved the other for a back up...will order a couple of them this week and keep in my spare parts in truck.

Had our meeting and talked about the Lowcountry Boil and decided the following:
1. I am sending 10 vendors to those that volunteered for a follow up conversation for raffle items as this years draw is not nearly what it was last year.

2. Chicken Bog for Friday night, Boil for Saturday night. No meals planned during day and thought with side trips to Aquarium and other spots we might want to eat at a local establishment for Saturdays Lunch.

3. Talked about meeting at Sparks or elsewhere around 9am on Friday morning to convoy up to Southport Ferry...and take it across to Carolina Beach for drive up and claiming of camp area before noon.

4. Tshirt design was discussed and costs...trying to get copy of design for use as a flyer. If not Greg French will see if his wife can put something pretty together to send out and post on website.

5. Going to use PayPal to collect funds for event this year.....price is not confirmed but will be and posted within 2 weeks for participants.

We also discussed one month just having a get together...no wheeling, no wrenching, no meeting...maybe just meet in Myrtle Beach...listen to Gregs band and hang out half the night relaxing, laughing and enjoying ourelves as adults. More to come....

Finally, Upstate Cruisers Annual Meeting is BACK to Sep 19th. A few of us are planning on attending. It will be my first but looking forward to meeting everyone up there.

After my shock bolt was bandaged....we had our meeting....we all headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings and ate 75 wings, french fries, appetizers and had some cold refreshments. Thanks to Jamie (SPARKS) for attending with us and for covering the meal. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you again as well for the items you have put together so far for our Lowcountry Boil.

Please stay tuned for more on Lowcountry Boil......and hope to see you all there.

Well, small group but still fun. Food was good, thanks Jamie at Sparks. I'll be going back in a week or so for the scuba mod.
We did have a few "no shows". Hmmm?

Bring it on. I've got an 85 4runner that I wheel with the club and they seem to be alright with it
