FJ 40 for sale
New life auto sales on Dorchester rd has a white late 60's early 70's fj40 on the lot.If I had to guess I'd say 69-71. I saw it out of the corner of my eye when I was on the way to work the other day. I have pic's Ill post up tonight. ( I have to download them from my phone)Looks decent and has the factory soft top bows but no top. It has been converted to floor shift (3sp according to the shift knob) and possibly a newer F engine. The guy I talked to knows nothing about 40's or anything else landcruiser but said he would let me know whenever one came in. Dont know how much they want for it . The guy who actually does the buying/pricing is out of town. I didnt hear it run but was told it was driven around the lot a couple of days ago. I should know what they want for her early next week.

Any word on the price of this yet? I may go by and check it out today. I could use another project like a hole in the head, but hey if the price is right.

Looks like a 64'-68' if everything is original. Not a very desirable year for driving, but things can be upgraded.

Spoke with Mike, the owner of the truck, today as well. Told me the same info Beetle.
I advised him to track down a soft top canvas and clean her up a little with atleast a seat cover on the front seats and it will probably sell pretty well. The floors that I saw looked good but the rear tailgate left something to be desired. Someone took a set of barn doors and welded them together and then welded hinges to the tub to make it a tailgate. Also the rear looks to have been backed into something, and there is some bondo on the rear sill.
Looks about the same as my rig was when I gon mine for $3000, however I didn't get any bows or doors with mine.
Looks like a good project for someone, however it would probably need power brakes to be a decent driver.

I checked this truck out today while out at lunch. It is a project vehicle. The guy I talked told me that Mike really likes the Land Cruiser and the Land Rover Discoverys. He did tell me that they are possibly getting a 91 fj80 with 160k and they would sell it for 3k.

Yep, that would be an FJ80 as it has the 3fe from the FJ62 in it. Also no lockers for those as it only had a center diff lock switch, no axle locks. I believe those started in 94'/95'.

I know nothing about 80s other than Glenn and BenMara have them and they are mall cruisers even with 40 inch tires.

With lockers, the 80's were the most capable rig off the lot!

FZJ80 is now my favorite member as the 80's are the MOST COMFORTABLE/CAPABLE L/C out there. The reivine at URE showed them how the 80 just IDLED UP THE DITCH, WITH A LOCKED UP LH REAR E-BRAKE, with ease, as the fjc's barely made it, and the others had to turn around and go back the other way Brock

How high up that hill do you think you would get with 30" Michelin M/S's. I won't start the most capable stock 4x4 argument because you probably won't like my vote.
