I have lot's of 3speed flywheels but no 4spds I can easliy find. I'm pretty sure Steve has a few.
What ever you do make sure you machine the surface where the pins are. Otherwise it will not have as much clamping force. SOme machine shops forget to do that.

Talked to Glen and the flywheel looks like new and they were able to get all the cracks out of it. I am still going to work on getting another for the NEXT TIME as I know there will be with me using it as both DD and wheeling it on weekends or such.
UC member in DueWest has one he thinks.....if not then Stephen Springs might have one as well...and there is always the choice of having one shipped here from out of state or I can pick it up on my trip to Ouray CO in July.
Thanks all for the help....still looking for one but it is not as critical as suspected.

I've had resurfaced flywheels in both the pig and my previous 60's , but they did not have those cracks you had in yours. If the flywheel is solid I would not mind a resurfaced unit esp. considering that price differential. Just my .02 Doc

Brock good move on the CCOT console...
I put one in my FJ60, it was a GREAT upgrade. I saw you mention it on another thread on the main board. I don't know what those guys bought, mine bolted in directly to the factory holes. I think the CCOT model fits better than a Tuffy. and i like the radio slot, i'll hopefully be adding a CB down the road. oh, get the Tuffy cup holders with it, especially for the front.
Let me know if you need any help with it.

I was thinking the CCOT cons was made by Tuffy that CCOT had just made the correct mounting brackets but I could be wrong. Have not had the opportunity to see a CCOT cons so will be looking forward to seeing yours Brock. One item for BT that I have not ordered yet as other things were more pressing. This way I can compare to the Tuffy before ordering. Great you going to bring it up to the Hammon?

got her back from Glenn today...
clutch is new and adjusted just like I like it....no more fluids being slung from transfer case...and a few other odds and ends that he wrapped up for me this go around....but biggest single change besides clutch...are the tires.
BEFORE with 30x9.50x15
AFTER with 33x10.50x15
Thanks Glenn for the hard work and such....
clutch feels great...just how I like it...steering is better...tires ride smooth and dont notice the road noise at all but then again I drive a LC now with a tractor motor and loud 4spd tranny. LOL
CCOT will be here tomorrow with new wiper blades and such.....stay tuned to my build thread below as I do things to her little by little.

I'll steal a little of Brocks thunder by going over the repairs on Mystique, New, not reman, Aisin clutch disc, Aisin presure plate, Koyo release brg, Koyo pilot brg, re-surface flywheel, new rear main engine seal, new front and rear yoke seals on transfer case drive flanges, new front input shaft seal on transmission input shaft brg retainer housing, tightened the drag link adjusting screws (2), temporary fix on choke cable, 5 NEW BFG KM2'S, (SWEET TIRE SET UP) low noise and only 1 tire/wheel required, IMO,excessive weight to balance. New shifter support bushing.
But still a 60, so slooooowwwww.
80'S RULE.
Hope everthing is to your liking Brock
Thank you for the business and the referals

it is great....
now Glenn said he took Mystique for a test drive to Folly Beach but had to turn around. Not because there was a problem with the vehicle but because he had about a dozen hot 28-32 year olds flashing him and calling after him in the uber sexy blue FJ60.....as they thought he was an international man of mystery not in the plain white condo crawler he normally drives.
he knew it would be the end of his life as he knows it if they caught him and forced him to give them a ride and anyone else saw him. LMAO
Glad to help you buy some new toys for the 80....LOL

Yeh, heavy wagon, low rpm tractor motor, 3.70 gears, and 33" tires don't exactly = speed demon. You might want to look into some 4.88 gears or atleast swap out for some 4.10 FJ62 thirds to help with the DD duty.
That combo makes for a nice overdrive, but getting there isn't any fun. You are running the same as me with my 38's and 4.10 stock gears. Real slooooow, except my rig is lighter and didn't have all the power robbers like smog and A/C.
Those tires look great, as soon as they release something bigger in a 16" rim I will probably be getting a set for the road days.
Do we have a club connection for tire purchases?

Not officially but Glenn got me a pretty good deal and there is also Frankies Tires on Cross County that has always given me great prices and service in past as well.
I did not notice a difference in performance really to tell you the truth...maybe because I kept them tall and skinny and did not go wide on the tires. Also, now that my clutch is grabbing like it is suppose to I might be getting more power to them anyhow...LOL

Come on Brock, you know the gearing is only affected by the height. If you would have went wider it would affect your steering and maybe a little more rolling mass to get moving.
Do we need to go over Physics 101 again?
I might swing by if you have time today and check it out on my way back from Glenns.

read for comprehension... clutch is working correctly and did not increase footprint significantly (less rolling resistance and friction) though I did increase weight of tires considerably. yes that does affect seat of pants performance of which I could not tell a difference with taller tires or 1 inch increased width in acceleration or steering...hence overall driving experience.

I didn't mean the difference between what you had and now. These rigs are under geared to start with when they came with 28" tires. Go up to 31's then 33's and they get significantly slower at take-off. Just saying gears would be a plus on all counts. DD and wheeling.
Not questioning your "seat of the pants tech" perspective. Just letting you know about an easy/common upgrade on these old rigs.
There is a reason why people grab 78' FJ40 and all FJ62 third members up so quickly.

Bad ass rig man! Looks cooler than the FJ, not to dis the Fj they are just different in their kind of coolness.
I tried to take a brown sharpie to the wheel wells because it just didn't look right having a 60 in Charleston without any rust. However I was run off by one of your co-workers.
Nice jewel you have there. Enjoy it and have fun building her up.

wires for offroad lights wore through coating and grounded against the battery clamp this morning and caused a big white cloud of smoke. Guess I will be running new wires sooner than I planned. I had hoped to find a burnt fuze or bad relay in the wiring harness for the lights....guess it is a bad wiring harness now...LMAO
Go by and see if Toyota has a special one they use for install since I have the factory switch or if I can just buy one from Pep boys for an IPF or KC light setup and replace it. Fun Fun...

well tore out the burned wires tonight...found more than one set so with Michaels help I was able to determine that both the offroad lights and the electric brake system was burned. Not sure which was first or anything so traced wires and started pulling one at a time. Finally got them all out...
Looks like a complete new wire harness for the lights unless I do them old school....and shit canned the controller and rear plug adapter for the electric brake unless someone wants them and run their own wires for free. If not then next Tuesday they will be picked up by StAndrews Parish Sanitation. LOL
Michael said that the old FJ60 was WAYYYYY cooler than the plain, non-descript, pimpified, white 80 series he sees some people drive around town and to the mall.

I think Mike must be confused, and think that he is on a Jeep or Land Rover forum with prices he keeps offering everybody.

glenn what did you say I needed to do to front end...knuckle rebuild or just the felt sweeper thingy that keeps grease in and dirt out?
Going to order new oil pan gasket as it is dripping and if you have the other gunk that goes in corners...might do the change over there one Saturday if you dont mind. I will bring all the material if you can just dab the black stuff on for me.
Going to order a new choke cable while I am at it.
