Powertank Group Buy
A friend of mine from FJBruisers (DelMarVa and PA area).....sent me info on a group buy they are working with Powertank for CO2 air inflation systems...it is a great deal and if I did not already have one would jump on this. Here is the info:
http://www.fjbruisers.org/forum/inde...48179#msg48179
All your guys have to do is mention FJ Bruiser Power Tank Group Buy when you call the dealer.
This is being handled through Iron Pig Offroad in Fredericksburg, VA. All the details are at the link above.
Packages A, B, and C are available all in 10 lb size.
You can choose the color of your tank and whether you want the mounting bracket or the portable speedbag carrier.
If anyone has any issues with process let me know and will give your contact info to the guy that sent me the opportunity....good bunch of people in that club.

AirGas did mine last time....was $25 to fill it and that does approximately 30 tires of the 35 inch size from 10lbs up to 35lbs.
If you got someone that fills the tanks for your restraunt you can get them to do yours as well but you dont need food quality CO2...usually welding supply or paintball places will do them. Only place I could find in Charleston area was AirGas on Dorchester and since they are filling your tank you might have to leave overnight. Guessing it should last me a year of wheeling and can run air tools off it too if needed...or seat a bead on a tire with it unlike most compressors.
It is a trade off....cost and done with compressor.....or cost and $25-50 per year for CO2 refills. Mine is the Sunperformance with HighFlow regulator (not prone to freeze), 25' coiled high pressure hose, bracket, boot on bottom of tank, regulator protector and handle, air chuck, etc. Powertank is a quality product as well...maybe even a little better depending on who you talk to about them.

Don't know if I need one but #2 looks to be a good buy. Wouldn't you say or is there something extra that is needed to make it perfect?

good tank, high flow non freezing regulator, regulator protection, heavy hose that can reach your tires, mounting system and protective boot on tank for if you take it out and when you are transporting it to fill to keep it from banging the bottom as much.
you can get your attachments for air chuck or whatever the tool from hardware vendors....
just depends on what you want.....if not then the compressor is good option for filling tires if you dont worry about popped beads or think you will need to run air tools. The compressors that can output large amounts of air for filling our tires are limited with any good CFM that are also reliable without getting too hot. I think I have an EXPEDITION JOURNAL that evaluates offroad compressors if you want to read it.

she is a new college graduate....5'2 and built like dolly parton. I told her she looked like she was about to bursting capacity and I did not think she could take any more inflation. It went over her head but two others around me were crying while laughing. LOL

Does anybody know why the Powertank setup is so much more expensive than the "Ultimate Air" and "The Source" systems? Is it all in the valve? I noticed these have a gauge which would mean it is adjustable and I assume non-freezing.
Brock, how does the price of these compare to what you paid for your Quick Air setup. I believe yours has gauges as well, right?
Thanks,
Jeremy

I have the SunPerformance...mine has a high flow gauge that is non-freezing though they all freeze somewhat...some just stop functioning and others just reduce their throughput slightly but go back to normal after a minute or two.
Mine has the tank, the rubber boot, the carrying handle/regulator protector, the non freezing high flow regulator, the pressure dial that you set for pressure on the hose not inside tank, safety release valve, 25 feet of coiled heavy duty hose, air chuck attachment, and the mounting bracket to secure it to your vehicle.
Mine is able to be purchased through 4x4GroupBuys.com for about the same price I paid in group buy on Blue Forum for FJs..... I love it. I hear the regulators might be diffrent and not sure which is better....I thought the SunPerformance was a very good mix of quality and price hence my purchase but never heard anything bad about this one either by Powertank.
I personally would still go for one I have...but that is just me. It is a great price off their MSRP but I question why some like AllPro and others have such high prices to start with.....like AllPro wanting hundreds of dollars for a sheetmetal air deflector....my guess is because there was no competition.
I think you would be happy with Power Tank or Source.....I just preferred more bang for my buck and was willing to take a chance on maybe a lesser regulator even if it was still non freezing.
At Uwharrie it was in high 80s maybe 90s...humidity was up there high as well. All day wheeling in heat with no air flow in back of FJ and we get to Outpost and I need to air up from 20lbs to 42lbs for drive home the next day. First tire done in short order.....second tire is a little slower but notice ice on outside of regulator but it never clogged just slowed. So took an extra minute walking to other tire talking along way.....filled her up no problem...last one was good too. Not sure if it was the heat and humidity with it but first time it had frosted that much but it never stopped filling my 295x70x17 Nittos. I have seen others that would freeze solid and take forever to thaw before they could be used again after just one large tire.
That is my only experience so far with any freezing...come by and let the air out of one of your tires and will let you fill it off the tank and see for yourself if you want.

Yes, I guess it's not a bad deal. For about $130 more you get the inflator, the quick chuck, and a reg. cover. It looks like the PT one has a seperate gauge for the tank. Not sure what it tells you as CO2's measured capacity is by weight, not pressure. I guess for the extras you get plus the PT is a well known name the price is pretty good. I believe I will wait though and order one of the others mentioned. Namely on price and they are on sale most all the time. So need to have to order now. Thanks for the heads up though Brock.

no problem...i never really understood why the second gauge was necassary either but sure there is some reason but you can tell how full the tank is off that since it is liquid and we use the gas offput of that liquid....and it is filled by weight as you mention. I just set the regulator not to exceed the capabilities of my hose or attachments...and let her flow.
I use a motorcycle beanie cap for my cover.....in case of a safety pressure release. LOL I bought a cheap dial guage and accessory kit from Northern Tool or Tractor Supply for like $30 so between my tank and the accessories I am still cheaper....but you guys are free to check it out to compare in person if you want.

They just closed the GROUP BUY on 16 June to place the final order from reading the thread I posted above. Have you contacted the Group Buy organizer in the thread or contacted IRON PIG OFFROAD directly yet to ask for a shipping date?
To purchase call Iron Pig Directly and mention FJ Bruiser Powertank Group Buy
11812 Main Street Suite C104
Fredericksburg, VA 22408
1-866-IRON-PIG
(540) 361-7400

Iron Pig Off Road : Toyota 4WD experts
Recommend you call Iron Pig to find out....I think they mentioned they would either be delivered to Iron Pig on 20 July or you could set up for them to be shipped directly to you. Hopefully you asked for direct shipping since you dont live in Maryland. hahahaha

Closing Date
This buy will be open for a short period with delivery at the IPOR S&S on June 20. Or they can ship them to you.

If you have talked to IPOR and confirmed your order was submitted....and if they have received all the orders that were due to their shop...then I guess the next step is to call the vendor directly and get a ship date but I am sure you already did that.

My friend up there ordered items on that same Group Buy and has not received his yet. They just had a big IPOR Event and kept it open a few day longer than planned to let more get into the Group Buy.
Seems nothing to worry about at the moment...
