I will call the campground in the morning- just looked online- Has anyone asked about special shortened stays for UC members for cabins? I will ask about if in no one has....how many would be interested in a cabin if you could get just for the weekend?

Lynn, Scout and I will be staying in the campsite with full hookups.
Wife says she MUST have hot showers and power for the night.
We'll hang out with the crowd but crash separately.
The primitive area has restrooms but not showers and since Gundy's
cruiser shower will be staying home I had to go this route.
At the hookup sites 1 through 108 are beach front sites.
Anyone interested in camping there should reserve quickly
as I've been told they will probably not be available on short notice.
If you reserve a site you must pay upon reserving.
We are going down that Thursday to Sunday morning.

Depending on the temperature at that time of the year... the bugs (sand gnats/flying teeth) might be bad in the woods. If you bring a boat, there is a nice boat ramp on the island.

ouch.. this one? that's about an hour+ drive to hunting island.. or 20 min. by boat. Hilton Head is a good pick for a vacation spot if you are combo-ing the trip.

I cant commit that far in advance I dont even know where I will be then I have to find a job. Good to see you stopped trying to schedule big stuff on football weekends though. Open weekend = good choice.

Well it's double edged sword. Annual will be in Sept and Clemson is playing at home the whole month.

We'll be there. Is there a group campsite or anything for tenting? I'll bring the turkey cooker for boiling/steaming the shrimp, crabs, whatever else.

If we are at the group site will we have access to showers? Even if we have to walk that is fine- Or do we need to reserve a different site? THe hunting island site says yes for regular camping but not specific to group sites.

I was told by the Ranger that the showers are NOT open to the primitive camping. Restroom
is located there and the water is a single point source.

We have reserved two group site beside each other. Holds 60 people or 60 tents.

Not sure of showers. Don't know how they would police that.

Probably wait until after Over the Mountain Tour before we start roll call. we get closer. We have 60 spots. I'm sure there will be room for everyone. Cost will be around 2-5 per person for camping. We won't be able to figure out food cost until we get closer. But I think somewhere around $10-15 a night would be safe. I have been wrong before.

Couple things I'd like to know.

Where could we get some good oysters to roast that are reasonable. Shrimp? A rough cost per bushell or pound.

Any good places to throw out crab pots and shrimp nearby.

A local charter to go inland fishing.

If we can get those answered I think we will be a long way in making this a good event.
