gauging interest HUMMER tires

A friend of mine is in the tire recycling business...he just obtained a big contract to recycle military tires..

I am not even sure of the size that H-1 tires are, but he just got a lot of them. if I get some pictures, size, age of tires, etc. would anybody be interested?... I think there are some run-flats for them too....

they would be shipped from Phoenix, AZ and would be very cheap...

If interested, PM me or post up here...

I should get some pics within a couple of days

Thanks

How about an entire military Hummer? I would be interested in one of those.

hell brother i can tell you the size now, i even had a set on my 1992 fj80, wont do that again for a DD truck. but they have 2 sizes. 36x12.5x16.5 and 37x21.5x16.5 good year wrangler MT, early ones. My 2 cents is if it is a trail use only tire then cool, but if you use it on the road i would shy away from them. just real hard to balance and they are bias ply too. I did love um off road though...
cheers

one more thing i forgot to mention was the 16.5 is not a 6 lug rim, you have to get custom rims made, well not to custom just need 6 lug centers welded in. and the bead does come off easy too, at least my experience, heck i may have had my PSI a bit to low, oh well, hahah

like how cheap you thinking, rims and all. becasue from there you could send the rims out to usa6x6 or somewhere like that and get the new centers weled with you choice of backspacing and have sweet ass beadlocks

Anybody thought about running hummer beadlock wheels with a 6 to 8 lug adapter? Just an idea.

there is companys out there right now that will cut the 8 lug center out of the wheel and replace it with a 6 lug and what ever back spacing you want.
usa6x6 comes to mind right now

what is the width of a hummer wheel ? someone mentioned these tires not being a very good choice for a DD but not bad for a off-road only rig..whats so bad about them i find it hard to believe the military would use a problamatice tire.

i dont know off the top o my head the width.... my experience with them as a DD was rotton, the tires because they are bias ply took for ever to warm up and get the flat spot out of the tires, and i almost always had a shake at 35 mph, like the tires are going to fall off the rig. but i also had the generation of wrangler prior to the ones pictured. . i would get some more again if it was a trail rig just because they worked for me and the price is right. But i wont do it for DD use again. just my 2 cents

I will answer the shipping quote questions when my buddy gets it figured out...will probably be FEDEX...if you have a business to deliver to it can often make it cheaper...

These are bias ply tires that will definitely better serve you offroad...thanks again for the interest..

After doing a little research on bias vs radial .

I do not see why bias tires are even being made anymore except for maybe atv's.

Even if only to us them off-road , airing down actually reduces tread patern and not to mention they were faster , dont handle loads as well and left alone and note driven are terrible about getting flat spots (as chappysfj40 mentioned before).

I realize bias ply are cheaper to manufacture but why the US Millitary would still use them is kind of well......

Not to say for a set of new 37's for around 180 buck + ship ..bad or not thats a good deal..
