Powder Coated Aisin Lockout Hub Faces

I've got a few to spare. I really picked these up because the guy at the junkyard didn't know what to do with them and didn't charge me for them.

So since I'm sure someone would like them, and I'd like to raise some money for the FJ-35LV project (http://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-...-our-help.html), I'll sell a set of Aisin Hub faces.

These should be interchangeable with any Aisin Hubs you've got (Land Cruiser, mini, etc...). I blasted them to bare metal, and powder coated the outer ring black, and the dial red. I also will have applied white paint to the raised lettering (except the "Aisin" in the center of the dial). I'll ship two complete faces, along with new Marlin (or Toyota--your choice) seals installed, with the assemblies assembled (and greased). All you need to do is take apart your hubs, and transfer the follower pawl and internal guts to these faces (it takes about 5 minutes--very easy to do).

Here is what is included:
Name: finished hubs 2.jpg
Views: 946
Size: 66.7 KB

But here is what they look like installed on clean hub bodies and with fresh bolts. Note that these pictures are before I have painted the raised lettering on the dial white--the lettering is bare metal in these pics, but will be white by the time I send them out.

What am I asking? $25 sent to Gene's FJ-35LV fund, and for you to send me your old faces as cores (so I can rebuild more). Shipping to/from 87047.

At the moment, I've got one complete set done, although if there's a lot of demand, I've got another set or two sitting around that I could easily do. And as soon as someone buys the first set (and I receive their face cores) then I'll pretty quickly have another set ready to go.

I'm also open to different colors (I'm sure I could find the gold color for the later models) or solid faces (without the lettering in white). PM me if you're thinking about it.

Dan

I went to the junkyard and pulled them off of every Sammy and Montero with Aisin hubs that I could find. Then I sent them to the platers. There are different types (most of them have the 7 in the center, with the single washer), but they all work.

You can get the reduced head JIS bolts from REMCO bolt in Albuqeurque (they do mail order too), but not in the yellow zinc finish (which looking at Marlin's site may be the wrong finish, but I was sending bolts out to the platers anyway.....)

Like I said: there's quite a line. So anyone that I haven't already talked to should wait until I post up here when I get more in and ready to do some more.

I'm not made of hub faces people!

But here's a picture of one completed with paint on all the letters.
Name: hub faces.jpg
Views: 785
Size: 95.7 KB

FWIW--the price for a new one is too low. Putting white paint on the letters on the dial is really, really hard. The metal is just porous enough to allow the paint to find it's way into all sorts of annoying spots.

But that's just me being super anal about things. They look good from a foot away.

M6-1.0x16MM Stainless Steel bolts can be acquired from Lowe's- these bolts hold the cover in place to mate with the hub body which replaces the "OEM prone to rust" bolts.

If you need the matching stainless steel washers look for #12. These hardware are also available at Lowe's.

Just thought I'd post some pics of the hubs I did for Dad and his FJ-40.

Get ready for some used "Superwinch" hubs to be posted.

If you could line up a set of hub faces and throw in some fresh stainless bolts, I'll bite! Let me know how much more to send and when I get mine I'll send over my cores.

The bolts I've posted pictures of aren't stainless. They are the original bolts that have been replated. I actually think that they *should* be silver, but everything I plate is yellow, so that's what I put on my cruiser, and what I put on Dad's.

The ones phrogg4ever has should be correct, as I understand it. I'm not sure where he got those (not from me).

So stainless: not from me. I'm not even sure if I've got any more of the yellow zinc bolts to spare now. In fact a large part of the discussion here was where to find the reduced head JIS bolts in stainless. They are really elusive.

Dan
