FJ40 rust free tailgate doors - SOLD

Just listed a super nice pair of rust free tailgate half doors on Ebay. Thought I would let my fellow cruiser comrads know about these being available.

I think I saw those. They were in good shape. I am hoping to get a little over 400 to pay for some other cruiser stuff I need worse. Had the first bid within minutes of listing. Guy didn't seem to bat an eye. FJ40 parts don't seem too bad for an investment. We'll see, but these doors are pretty hard to come by in this good of shape. Thanks.

hmmmm,

so they are not for sale here... just an egay link?

no deal for your fellow mudders?

i thought this was the "for sale" section, not the "egay link" section.

post them for sale here... i'd buy them.

Not a problem Crusty selling to a fellow mudder. As far as a “deal” goes, if I was financially able to, I would give them away to a fellow mudder. For some of us, it isn’t easy to finance this sport and it becomes necessary to receive fair market value for items as much as possible in order to stay involved. Good marketing has always been a basic principal of selling something. The cruiser community is not just made up of people here, so therefore, "egay". There are over 400 listings for cruiser parts (just 40s and 60s) as we speak so I can't imagine I am the first fellow mudder to use Ebay. There are many in the cruiser community who haven't discovered this site. Are you saying I shouldn’t have let fellow mudders know these were available for sale? This is my first attempt to sell a cruiser item of some significant value and I meant no offense to anyone here. Perhaps next time, I will post here first and if no one is interested in paying what I consider fair market value (after considerable research), then try Ebay. Maybe others will chime in here and help me learn more about proper mud etiquette.

If you are sincere about your offer, I would be more than willing to sell the doors to you or any other mudder. I would take $475.00 for them plus the ride ($25.00) and cancel the ebay ad today. That is less than what I have seen them sell for in the past in this condition. Otherwise, I am willing to wait and see what the cruiser community at large determines is fair market value for them. My Paypal account is Rfeatherston1@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

i do not post ebay links on here if it's for my own junk. the rules clearly state that you're not supposed to. sometimes i do post links to ebay adds if it's not my auction to make fellow mudders aware of something noteworthy. i sell stuff on here to hook up fellow mudders but i also sell stuff on ebay to make a few extra bucks to finance my hobby.

Well I won't do this again. Thanks for the advice fellas. I just read the stickys for the parts for sale section. I think they leave a lot to be desired for explaining the rules for sellers. Maybe I missed it but I couldn't find any stated rules against posting a reference to an Ebay listing. To all, please accept my apology for an honest mistake. My offer to sell to a fellow mudder as stated above still stands if anyone is interested. I hope that makes this a somewhat legitimate thread.

looks like you get it now.

not trying to be an asshat (it just comes natural like ).

this is the for sale section.

try selling here first next time, or at the same time you put it on ebay.

do sell here again, it's a great place to sell and buy from. it's a little more personal than ebay. the dickheads run free on ebay, here... not so much i don't post that often

bump, for a nice pair of doors.

crusty

I did post here at the same time as the listing. I was surprized that someone would bid on them so soon. I guess at this point, I am committed to sell on Ebay so I will ad sold to the title of the thread. It has been an interesting discussion to say the least. In the sticky it says no bidding. I (and others here) have taken that to mean...no bidding on this site. It seems to be a stretch to say that rule also applies to a member posting a site (which may benefit other members) where there is bidding. I totally get the idea of offering items for sale to fellow mudders first. Thanks to all for your comments on the issue.

toyman, I don't hold it against ya for posting your link, I agree that is in the best interest of 'mudders to post whatever is up for sale. There are folks on here that make a lot of money parting out rigs and quite a few folks buy stuff here and sell it elsewhere. Many a time I have missed a part that would have helped me put a project together that was purchased by someone who sells parts for a living. No hard feelings, that is just how it goes.
As for the rules, maybe the mod' needs to modify the rules so it was less vague. If I don't want to check out their link I don't have to. Its fun to see what stuff goes for anyway.

Thanks Kief. Well said. I did find in the "Diesel classifieds" the moderator stated much more clearly about no posting of Ebay links of cruiser related items. Rules should be the same across all the different classified boards. If posting Ebay links for just cruiser items was allowed, then members would have more options to obtain parts than just on this site. Parts for these things are getting hard to come by as it is. Ebay is here to stay and whether there or here, I would much rather buy from a fellow mudder and would appreciate their postings. Maybe Woody will chime in here.

i have another set of really clean doors i will be putting on ebay as well. i have another set also but i'm selling them to a fellow mudder for $100. that way everybody is happy and i don't feel like i' just in it to make a buck.
i'm going to list my doors after the auction on yours closes so as not to compete with you though.
