No. I can't imagine they would exist. I was pretty happy to see that you can get 40 bodies again.

Damn!

Rear Punisher came today.

It's too long.

I figured I'd have to cut it down to fit with the dig, but I wanted to wheel today.

I put the old shaft on and managed to wheel about 10 feet before I blew it apart again.

I guess I just have to wait until tomorrow.

Wheeled with Ginger and checked out his rig a bit.

Tried some of the stuff today. I lowered the upper shock mounts, but ended up moving them back. I triangulated the lowers. Kept that so far.

I went to make a tube cage today because the one I bought was too tall, too wide and too top heavy. It was cool looking and easy, but not for me.

By the time I moved the speed control to the rear four link mount and flipped the top mount so the receiver was tucked in just above the motor, I couldn't see where I needed much of a cage. The Ax body is a pretty cool cage. I'll probably screw with it for a while tomorrow.

Ended up building a tube chassis body for it today.

Used about 8' of 3/16 brake line. I have a really good bender. Cut with a tube cutter. cleaned the joints and notched with a bench grinder. I tacked the joints with the MIG and finished welded them with the TIG.

Twisted Customs was the inspiration.

I cut up the stock Ax body for body panels. No pics of the tube work until I get it cleaned up and powder coated.

It's way lighter, narrower and lower than the Pro Line tuber. I think it looks better too.

Thinking about going back to a 55t today. The 70t has a lot of torque, but seems to be designed for a 4cell lipo. My batteries are just not lasting like they should.

I checked out the ultra sexy hand wound motors at Holmes Hobbies, but they are out of stock on just about everything.

I've got a Novak 55t and it works great...get a few pinion options and you'll be set.

With my 3s Lipo, it's a screamer too

I didn't get it powdercoated today. I spent the afternoon re-doing a bunch of stuff so I could lower the body about an inch. The beltline used to be above the shock towers.

Tomorrow I'll blow it apart again, powder coat the tubes, tie up all the wiring and do a couple of other little tweaks. I might have to put a Gumby driver in there too.

I did manage to not go in the shop all day today. I feel pretty good about that.

That first step caught my wheelbase just right. The rocks are set up at the edges of my wheel track so its still a little hard.

Hopefully once the rocks clean off or I get my X-locks I can walk that first step.

I might not get home Tuesday until after 6. Wednesday I should be home early.

I was having a battery issue. My batteries were only lasting about 15 minutes and they were getting really hot. The motor was getting really hot too. I tried a smaller motor. I tried to charge on a better charger with no luck. I tried a 2 cell battery and it barely moved. The rear spun great when the DIG was disconnected so it wasn't binding in the drive shaft or the axle. That's when I decided it had to be in the R2D trans.

I took it apart and found the center gear shaft had walked through the bushing and had disconnected completely from one housing end. in reverse it didn't have a lot of side thrust and did OK, but in forward it bound up badly.

I put a temporary fix on it and it works much better. I need to replace the blown out bushing so I ordered a kit from RC4WD. Since I was already there I ordered a set of X-locks and a set of shocks too.

Fixed my trans finally. It lasted about 5 minutes before the shaft blew through again.

New trans kit will be here Monday along with X-locks and a set of cone washers that should help the lowers clear the skid plate.

Trans kit showed up today. I only needed one bushing, but I put most of the kit in anyway. It came with two of the bushings that failed, so I'll have a spare. Tons more power. Lots more control. A lot less noise. The trans was binding bad before.

The cone washers made a big difference in flex. My lowers were binding before my shocks bottomed. That's not the case anymore. I think it'll be even better when the back ordered shocks show up.

The X-locks are wide like the Hammers and tall like the outcroppers. I hope they work like the reviews. It's tough to tell with stock foams. It's like wheeling at street pressure.

Looking good. I need to get some pics of mine posted up with my build info as to not H-JACK your thread. And I need to take some video. Needless to say, it's been running for a week and have already found some nice improvements.

Don't do it man...you'll never look back. This is more addictive than the full size trucks (prolly cause it costs a ton less...) Step away from the computer and close your browser...never visit axialracing.com ever again...

P.S. Can't wait to see your build.

Nice, once you get the foams and weights figured out, im gonna have to try them on. If they grip as well as the Panthers, they may be my next tire. Wouldnt mind the extra height.

So I star cut the foams. I tried no foams, but they just flattened right out.

I tried couch wheeling. I'm not sure the wife it gonna be real happy with the front dig I did on the wall trying to turn to run the top of the couch.

I just ended up outside in the dark running the rock pile. It climbed the impossible spot on the rock wall, but only with a lot of wheel speed. It walked the flat slab and it crawled up the big rock on the end with no effort.

Being that the outcroppers couldn't do any of those lines, I suppose the X-Locks work pretty damn good.
