2H / 12HT FSM show 4.3psi or more at idle. That damn low !

Should read anything between 36 to 85 psi at 3000rpm.

As other said, use a mechanical gauge.

Ok! So I got a mechanical gauge on it.
Here are the results with a hot engine
500rpm idle

1,500 (no change)

2,000- massive spike almost instantly between 1,000 and 2,000.

Then at 2,500 it held steady just 2-5psi above the 2,000rpm level

Ok so based on the idea that I should be getting 10psi per thousand RPM, I am well within "ok" range at high and low RPM. The instant spike from 20 to 40psi is a little perplexing, but I'll take it.

I also learned that my sending unit is marked "24volt" (I never changed it when I swapped the engine)
The gauge in my dash was from a 12volt FJ60 dash. It's clear they are semi-comparable, but could this be my issue?
Should I put a 12volt fj60 sending unit in to match the gauge?

Or should I just do a full aftermarket sender-gauge combo?

Thanks for all the response and help on this guys. I really appreciate it.

Great news, no guessing now! Change your sender and you should be golden.

I just updated my oil sender, now the gauge is reading better, not looking so sleepy,.....it's sits halfway with driving and settles down low on idle

i installed a mechanical gauge on my truck as well. my problem was too high a pressure due to stuck pressure relief valve. I have since changed the valve and installed a mechanical gauge. Idles at about 30 and goes up to 85 in normal range. Also using shell 15w40
