In my search for new tires, I have come back to what I know from my last truck. Toyo ATII. In researching weights, I noticed that the BSW variety were 2 pounds heavier than the OWL variety. Odd. So I contacted Toyo directly and this is their response on why the weights are different. I am basing the 2 pounds on a 275/70R18 tire.

"Thank you for contacting Toyo Tires USA. The difference in weight is due to the plant the products are produced at as tires produced at our plant in the USA offer a slightly thicker sidewall rubber due to our ATOM processing. Most of the all black wall tires are produced in the USA offering the slightly higher weight, although some may be produced in Japan as well and will have the lower weight. All tires with outlined white lettering are only produced in Japan and will have the lighter weight. To determine where the tires are produced you would have to view the stamped location on each tire."

Now I know!
