hello all,

I am trying to get this wideband: http://www.ecotrons.com/products/alm-diesel/ working on my 91 HDJ80. it has provisions for RPM logging but I cant seem to get it working. I will be contacting the manufacturer but I need information on the pick up sensor. is it inductive, hall effect or other? what is its voltage output range? all i can find in the FSM is that it should have a resistance of 730Q between terminal one and two.

TIA

And I believe not all trucks had the provisions for a tach, re: RPM pickup in the injection pump. Mostly 1HZ trucks from what I've seen, but some of the lower trim1HD-t's that didn't have a tach, won't have an RPM pickup from factory.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I was able to contact the manufacturer and the sent me this to describe the required input signal for RPM:
RPM%20to%20ALM_zpscjgmurtj.png

I don’t remember much from my basic electronics class but that’s a pulse wave, right?

Now after a bit more searching I found this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fzj80-to-hzj80-conversion-tach-wiring-problem.817896/#post-9359200 what I gather from this is that the sensor on the IP is an inductive (VR) sensor with sinusoidal signal output. I figure that I’m going to need some sort of a tach signal converter to get the ALM to log the rpm. Please excuse my ignorance; does a sine wave to pulse converter exist?

Has anyone ever checked the IP tach sensor with an oscilloscope? If anyone has this data please post it up so send it to the manufacture to see if I can get this damnable thing to work.

Thanks
