Oh, And I later added a small powered sub that I put under the driver's seat. I wasn't looking for POUNDING bass, just enough to fill out the bottom end... it works great.

How exactly did you wire this? Most radios have output wiring for 4 speakers? Do you need an amp?
Would also be interested in which radio, speakers, "tweeters", amp, sub, you got, and where? I don't know what
"adjustable crossovers" are. And how you put these in the corners of the dash. Just on top of your dash, unsecured?
And of course.. pics are always nice!

Thank you!

I have an older JVC Heavy Duty head unit (USB/Aux inputs), Kenwood Powered Sub and Blaupunkt component speakers. larger ones in the doors, tweeters velcro/double sided taped to the flat part of the dash at each far end pointing straight up. The crossovers are a little electronic box that splits the signal between the midranges in the doors and the tweeters. The powered sub has it's own control for frequency cut-off and amount of gain (boost).

I think this one:

Thanks.. there's another thread I revived.. about the Jensen Heavy Duty. I might get this latest one, with the Bluetooth audio streaming/handsfree phone capabilities.

Ok so I have never installed a stereo myself. The 62 had an old alpine single din in it with a cubby tray underneath. I tore that out and now I can't figure out how to mount the sleeve for the new Jensen heavy duty? Is there some type of mounting kit I need?

How was the Alpine mounted. I would imagine the Jensen can be mounted similarly.

Pictures might help us to help you.

I will try and get pics but I have the Alpine and it's mount separated because I tried to use the brackets on it to mount the Jensen. The Alpine and the cubby hole were bolted as one piece to, I believe, Alpine specific brackets and then that whole unit was bolted to the factory mounts in the dash. I tried to use the same mounts but they didn't fit the Jensen even after I tried to modify them. Nothing on them lined up with the Jensen or it's slide mount. I will probably have to go to a shop but was trying to avoid the extra expense and time.

Don't use the sleeve! You don't need it. Or the new bezel. They will only make the install harder and less attractive. The two OEM screw on side plates are all you need. If they were discarded with the single DIN Alpine install by the PO, buy a used set for $20. It is a bolt in install with the plates.

If the new radio doesn't have the right screw holes in the chassis (this is EXTREMELY unlikely), then use a different radio.

Ok I do have the factory mounting brackets. The Alpine and the little cubby box were mounted to them. I bought this Jensen based on reviews here and a few here have this radio so I don't understand why I'm having such issues. I'm sure it is a good radio but, after looking at this thing for the last hour there is no way to mount it to the factory brackets. I really want this radio so I will take it to a shop when I get the truck back from Trollhole and see what they can do with it. If it won't work I guess I will try and return it. Thanks again for all your help.

Here is the right side of the radio and factory bracket....

As you can see nothing lines up. I even tried to line up holes with out the cubby tray, just the brackets alone, and no joy. :bang:

Figured I'd chime in with what I installed in my 62, I believe it came out of a Ford as the stock unit, but a neighbor of mine had it replaced with a higher end option, so I picked this up for $75. Jensen 9424, and it fit like a glove in the stock mounting frame, bolt holes lined up and everything. It's got all the goodies, NAV, DVD, backup cam, USB etc.. I'm not real thrilled with the color of the radio screen, but I can live with it. For you double din guys, it's a pretty clean install if you can find one used.

Wow, that Jensen is an odd duck having the heat sink on the side.

My experience with car radio installers hasn't been good. I've had to clean up some pretty bad installs from PO's. If Woytovich's advice doesn't work, I'd let Torfab bend you up a bracket instead.

If you can pull the dash apart, and get it back together, you can install a stereo. Go for it.
