1st gen 4runner bumper /tire carrier (1 Viewer)

I'm in the market for a new rear bumper / tire carrier for my 85 4runner. I'm wanting something solid enough to protect my rig on the Rubicon and other tough trails

My question is this.. Does anybody have any experience or information on the rear bumper / tire carriers from 4x Innovations? Or Tactical Armor Group?

don't have dealings with either, but find it unacceptable at the size and amount of pics on the 4xinnovations site. it's almost as though they don't want to sell them.

I've never been a fan of them. I've tried to contact them about their roll cage for some more pictures and never got any. And it led me to believe that it wasn't good enough for me

I've bought a few things from them, I have his door hinges on my doors now. Good stuff, good prompt service.

Price isn't that bad for a premade tire carrier. Looks and sounds solid.

I looked into the TAG bumper, but have heard some bad things about them. Sounds like their customer service is pretty bad and they take a long time to get the bumper to you. Look at Adventure Copan's thread, he got one of their bumpers as a kit, but it sounds like they didn't include any instructions and he is going to have to mod the kit a lot to make it work.

I don't care for the departure of the 4X seems to hang low. I've read that if you mount a tire carrier on a marlin the tubes will crack in time from rotational forces. Looks like 4X just put a tube under to correct this. I like the high mount of the tactical bumper but can't speak for them and always been leery of "tactical" this or that kinda guys.

Have you looked at badlands bumpers? Have heard good things about them and seen rigs with them mounted. They've got lots of options.

4x4 labs makes a good one, there is a recent thread with some pics. They are a little slow on turn around time, but they make a quality product. I had the 4x4 Labs bumper on my 100 series and it was excellent.

I am having IPOR make me a one-off bumper and tire/can carrier combo for my '87. It is based off their 55 series rear bumper with quarter protection added. I will post pics once they complete it.

I thought that bumper came from Blue Lake Offroad?
