What oil you are currently running is pivotol in choosing tires?
Are you using Synthetic or Dino, Weight, and Brand?

Geolander AT's 285/75/16 with original suspension in first two pictures. 3rd picture is the same truck with an OME Heavy lift and some steel wheels.
If reading reviews on these tires you will see some folks saying they are too stiff. Some sizes come in both D and E load rating. I suspect the ones complaining may be rolling E's without knowing it.

yes i know i need more lift but they work fine for around town.

I second the Dura Tracks. I love mine. They work great in snow and have good siping but may utilize the "studablity" if used often on icy roads. They are quiet on the road for how aggressive they are. They are probably not the most aggressive purely off road tire but seem to be far most aggressive than All Terrain Tires and are good for year round use (which aggressive off road tires often don't have siping needed for safe winter conditions). These tires but have worked great for me on Sierra trails typically strewn with lots of granite rocks and boulders. The side walls have traction enhancers for snow and seemed to work well grabbing traction on the rocks too. An added bonus: they get good comments about the way they look from non-car/truck people.

That's a serious looking bar on the front of you LX! Definitely designed to knock down whatever is in front of you so you run OVER it instead of through it! Lots of deer in your area?
 
deer everywhere and hogs also. killed more than 1 animal with it so far. the reason i got the truck for the price i did is because of a deer. previous owner hit one and took out the stock bumper and dented up the corner really bad.

Is that front winch cradle a dual purpose design for tailgating? It looks big enough for a good size BBQ grill, crap, just gave a way a million dollar idea:hillbilly:
 
I went with Dura Tracks after totally over researching the subject. So far really good.

The "right" tire is highly dependent on geography and intended use. Talk to the locals.

it is only 9 inches deep, just makes it look huge from the angle. seeing how i only have $175 in the bumper i cant complain. the tires and wheels cost me around $400 and then the custom 1.5 body lift was about $40 or so. i am doing what i can to build this pig on a budget.
 
I haven't heard anyone mention the Toyo Open Country AT2 yet. Heavy tire but very durable and very smooth and quiet while still being good off-road. Duratrac has also been awesome. As previous post mentions, really dependent on intended use, but the Dtrac is excellent for anyone who sees a lot of snow and ice.
 
To the OP, the answer entirely depends on your intended use. A rig that sees 90% street use needs different shoes than one that is used for aired-down rock crawling. I'm running Duratracks in the summer and studded Winterforce tires in the winter, both on OEM rims. This works for me because I don't wheel hard, mostly just forest roads and some two-track in summer. In winter it's used on highways with snow and ice. Determine what's best for YOU and then get one size larger than you think you need :)
 
Had duratracs on my wife's truck, 40,000 miles later couldn't hear myself think at 45mph. Have 35s duratracts on my duramax with 12,000 miles on them and they scream. They were both quiet at first. So put Goodyear Mtrs on my cruiser

Love my DT's in 315 but think rotating them at every 5k is crucial.... I've run three sets on three different trucks and they all were great..... 100k miles combined.

that said I'll likely go KM2's or something else next round.....getting the heavier rating is also advised...
 
Just put on some 315 cooper discoverer st maxx. I love them so far but havn't wheeled em yet.

Go with Toyo man IMO. They are pricey but the quality is amazing and its quite hard to find bad reviews and horror stories are non existent.
There is a huge shop where I live called Southern Offroad Specialists and they are the ones who steered me towards Toyo's when I was about to pull the trigger on Duratracs. I know I am going to piss some people off by bad mouthing Duratracs but I would want someone to have told me to stay away from them when I almost bought them.
Keep in mind with most tires the owner either thinks they are the best thing ever or the worst thing ever. Southern Offroad is a reputable shop in GA where I live and all the rich red necks with there "mud bogging" trucks go there. They told me that they had no joke pulled off close to 50 sets (could have been an exaggeration but the guy didn't seem like he was full of it) of Duratracs because of quality and durability issues. Keep in mind the guys that go there don't trail ride, they tear their trucks up in the mud preforming crazy redneck activities. I later talked to the owner and they stopped carrying Goodyears all together because of all the Duratrac problems they had seen. He also said they are still constantly pulling them off the boggers from other shops.
I did a ton of research on the GY and didn't find a ton of bad reviews but they are out there (people on mud have had sidewall and chunking problems). They do look BA but just think hard about the reputation.
Guys who are running Duratracs don't hate me, I am simply telling something that I would want to be told to myself. I have kept this to myself for a long time because of how many BA rigs there are on mud with GY DT's on them. Toyo is by no means the only good offroad tires I just thought those people who are steering you towards Duratracs need to be countered because like I said on the internet the owner either thinks his product is the best in the world or the worst (and no one wants to be told they just made a $1500 mistake). Also keep in mind those rednecks who destroy the duratracs are clearly abusing them, but LC's can handle a lot of abuse if they are wearing the right shoes. Good luck with your choice sir.
