I going to add the OME 2.5 lift to my FJ80 and I was wondering what the best size tire would be I have hear conflicting stories between 33 and 35s so I figured I would come on here and ask.

What have you heard? Either size should fit with that OME lift. 33" runs fine even on a stock height 80. 35" will also run on stock height with minor rubbing fully stuffed or at steering lock. "Best tire size" is a relative statement and there are many threads on MUD that debate just that if you want to do a search. You need to decide how your rig will be used and how much you want to $pend.

I've run 33x10.50-15's and am currently on 315/75-16 (35's). Fits great. I personally wouldn't do either without going to 4.88's.

I'm running 315s (35") with a OME 2.5 and am still on stock gears. I highly recommend. Speedo and Odo correction is about 10%

If cost is a factor, note that you can put 285's on for under $1000, but it's near impossible to find 315's under 1K, and if you think about 37's down the road, figure $1500 plus.

4wheelparts has steel wheels 6-5.5 with a 16.5 diameter in the correct offset and width. 80 bucks a piece

Trail worthy fab can send military surplus 37" M/T to you for $150 a piece.

$1000

:)

I have run 33's stock and with a 3.5" lift, and 315 75 16 with the lift, and finally settled on a 34 inch tire (like the Toyo OC AT2, but they are very heavy in a 315 size, 34" feels just right). I'm with CTRJ on re-gearing to 4.88's. You might be okay on the east coast without the gears, but any significant gain in altitude or strong head winds out west will make the truck ponderously slow with stock gears on larger tires.

Yesterday, I had discount tire replace my worn out stock tires with 315/75/16 duratrac's, and they are awesome. Even with my saggy 18 year old suspension they don't rub. They look like they would, but they don't. Pictures don't do them justice. Compared to stock, they are huge! I don't feel the need to go bigger like I thought I would.

Thanks for that info!

I'd like to see how much trimming as people have stuffed 35's with no lift on their rigs. I have a set of interco 35's going on soon but I'm always looking ahead.

When I first had my 35's put on, it looked like it was going to rub because I don't have a lift, but I haven't had a single issue with them on stock wheels and stock height. If 37's don't fit without trimming, and 35's fit without a lift... I bet 345/75/16's are the perfect size for the OME 2.5" lift, but I don't know.

35's might fit stock, but you won't be articulating your suspension much.

yes, 37's require trimming.

the 345;s would be considered a 37. the guys that run 37's usually have 17" wheels and use the 37-1250r17. While this is a tiny bit taller (.4), the 345 over a full inch wider than the 37125017 which would affect rubbing MUCH more.

I'll run the 35 inteco's until they're gone and then decide, just seemed like Razors tip on the used hummer tires and rims seemed like a good economical solution for going from 35-37's.

I'm at an OME heavy both front and rear with armor, I might go J's later but getting a complete tire rim kit for just over a grand seemed like a great way to go.
