Is it true that Toyota has lift trucks with diesel engines that will fit into an FZJ 80? I was just curious if this was true and if anyone had done a conversion with one of those engines if so.

Toyota used 2H engines in forklifts in the US. You can put one into an 80 series, if you want to break the record for slowest 0-60 time.
None of the suitable engines for 80 series (1HZ/DT/DFT/DFTE) made it into forklifts here.
cheers,
Jan

Yes, B and H engines are used in forklifts and apparently refridgeration units as well. But as mentioned there are some differences usually in the cam shaft and IP and/or IP governor.
Had a chap here in SA who did a b conversion in a Land Rover and could not get past 60kpoh. After all the cruel joking about LR had subsided we discovered that the engine came from a fork lift.

Toyota use to use their diesel engines in wide variety of products, but now they have specialist engines for each type of vehicle. I suspect any B or H diesel in a forklift/bus/truck/airport tow truck will be pretty tired now.Might be worth rebuilding though.

That's what i thought to... Looks like I'm remembering wrong.
There was a 62 with a 2f, now forklift 13z.
Latest updates wiggles a 14z down there with a new turbo setup, custom ip. Clucth seems to be the issue for making it last.
Enough power!

When I worked up north there was a Toyota forklift with a 14B in it.

Thanks for all the info...I have a toyota forklift contact and was wondering if I could get him to get me an engine. I figured I would find out the details before I talked to him.

Seen a 13B in a canter truck imported from Japan..
