On and everytime it comes off, quick clean and touch up of satin black rattle can.

Mine are still intact. I wouldn't really call them skid plates, you wouldn't be able to grind over a rock on them. But they are effective brush guards.

Exactly. It's a good heavy brush guard to keep sticks and grass away from cat and trans/transfer wires.
It's not heavy so like that's gonna ruin your already non exsistant gas mileage.
I like having mine on for piece of mind.

I look at the stock skid plate as more of a "Glide Plate" and something to spread the load if you happen to hit something. The stocker is good, just not super HD, but works well for my needs.

don't follow any discussion on why not to use the skid plate...unless you never 4wd...then the question answers itself.

Leave mine on. Serviced my H55 and transfer case last weekend and it comes on/off in maybe 3-4 minutes.

To derail this fine 'keep it on' thread-

the steering gear looks mighty unprotected on mine.
But the belly pan looks like it'd keep out any size tumbleweed.

Was there ever a front skid plate to protect the front axle??
My IFS trucks all had one (or more..)

Mine is on. I wheel my 60, but not on severe trails. But I do see the stock plate as providing some protection from rocks, logs, etc.
