Slowly getting things off!

Started pulling things out of the engine bay

As I said earlier in the thread, the hood has a lot of damage. There was a massive crease on the passengers side; so much, that the bib over hung the hood by about 1.5". I tried banging out the crease but it was too far gone. I then cut the crease out with an angle grinder and cut a patch of 16ga steel for the hole.

Lines up much better now!!

Did more work in the engine bay. Pulled all the brake and clutch lines, reservoirs, fans, master cylinders, booster, and brackets. I also removed the pedals, brackets, hardware, and cables.

Now that the hood lines up well, I can start pulling fenders, bib, aprons, etc.

Not too shabby, huh?

Got a huge score today from another member.

24 lbs of freshly cadmium plated metric JIS hardware from a previous FJ40 project that never came to fruition. Probably close to 2000 nuts, bolts, screws, studs, and various other pieces.

Blasted and painted valve cover

Lots of parts have been blasted and are ready for Cadmium plating (decided to go with CAD instead of zinc).

Bought a vibratory tumbler from Harbor Freight, and have been tumbling all of the hardware I remove.

image-jpeg.1264502

First lot of hardware after about 8 hours in the tumbler. Wow, they came out spotless.

New 16 CFM Quincy air compressor.

Overkill, but I'll never have to buy an air compressor again.

Old rear sill is out; it was rotten. New sill is currently being fitted.
