Hi all,

I know there's another thread about radio dimensions, but the measurements there didn't seem correct for our 1982. We have no radio, only a hole that seems modified. We'd like to put one of the radios from vintagevibes.net in, but they need to know the center-to-center knob spacing and the width and height of the radio opening.

Does anyone know those measurements or have an unmodified 1982 you could measure for us?

Thank you!
Rally

Dimensions of this radio are 160mm x 48mm, knob spacing is 125mm center-to-center. This is 86120-60020 from 1980. It has the same dimensions as 86120-35025 from 1981 and 86120-60021 from 1982.

I picked up a OEM radio for a 79 a while back. Like the ones pictures here the volume and tuning are on the opposite side then radios in later Toyotas. I'm I right there isn't RHD and LHD model radios in the 40 series?

I have not seen any examples of specific RHD/LHD OEM model radios in FJ40s. All the dual shaft AM radios up until 1983 have the same layout as above. Knobs on opposite ends, Tune on the left and SW/VOL on the right.

With the 83 radio 86120-14520, both controls are on the right side.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I needed!

Regarding RHD/LHD radios.

This image from a 1977 Land Cruiser brochure shows a RHD vehicle with the same radio controls layout as LHD...

But this image shows a radio (2nd from top) with the controls reversed in a LHD vehicle. Image appears to be from a brochure as well, but no identifying information provided.
