I've noticed that water crossings do that to plates. Just proves you've been out there doin it right!

I was in Belize waiting for a flight when I spotted this nice 200 with the cool 17" wheels and a clean looking subtle push bar up front. I saw several 70s, 80s and 100s, but this is the only 200 I saw in 2 weeks in Belize!

Finished a full detail today. Polishing compounds, sealers, and waxed. Damn she looks pretty.

So do you get any grief over having a non-legit number plate on the front? I have a similar one on my 60 Series, but it's at least hidden behind the swing-out spare tyre. Australia has recently adopted that number plate recognition software on police vehicles, and you get a big kick up the ar$e for having fake plates........

I ran without a front plate on my 100 for 13 years in California (a 2-plate state), and got one fix-it ticket about 6 years in...

Stuck it back on for ONE DAY...paid $10 ticket, showing that it was on the vehicle...and then promptly took it off again for the next 7 years.

My State (Mississippi) only requires a rear license plate. So, AFAIK, I can put whatever plate I want in the front. I see lots of BMWs around here with Euro plates.

Heh... No. I was working like heck to try and clear it---though I can understand why you wonder. It was unbelievable.
It was so bad that turning the wheel was a problem. Screwed up braking...
In fact, the picture shows two hands-worth scraped OFF (see below tire on ground).

I'll have to post more photos later... Nastiest stuff ever.

It was up to the undercarriage, but not to inner wheel well.

Besides the crappy ending...the day was beautiful, though I only got a few photos with my phone:

This was about 3 minutes before the mud-bog...

Then went from beauty...to...
