88 FJ62, Blue on Gray Interior-Chicago, IL
Hello...I've a rusted out P.O.S. FJ62 that is pretty stripped out after I've gotten done with it. I stole the wiring harness and all the power equipment for my '87 FJ60. The dash is out too, and the engine cannot be fired as I cut all the harness out.
I bought it as a parts truck and was told the fuel pump was shot but that the truck ran. I am almost sure the odometer was at around 151k but the truck "lives" somewhere other than my house so I cannot run outside to check. I ran the engine on starter fluid before I cut it to swiss cheese and it actually ran and moved! It had forward gears and reverse also. However a trans line started leaking within about five min after it was running so that was the end of driving it. So it has to the best of my knowledge a good motor, trans, transfer case, and axles. There is very little of the body left, rusted and whatnot. But the motor is complete. I will probably steal all the A/C components off of it but otherwise I'd really like to get rid of it as a whole, but as you all know scrap is fetching some high dollars right now. My first quote for the truck from a boneyard was $350!!! I'm looking to do something with it by 7/19 at the very latest! John and, I think I emailed you on the grab handles or as I say "Oh Sh*t" bars...they are there and they are yours...everyone else thanks for your patience I'm off of a road trip to Denver that took up all weekend and have major deadlines at work this week.
However, I will do my best to round up all your requests and will be at the truck tonight and see if I have all the stuff...if I've not said it's at my mom's house in the Chicago suburbs. I will figure out pricing too. And yes, PayPal would be the best way to pay I guess? Hubs might be able to do...have two complete sets as I have two sets of axles. Okay...sorry I've been less than on top of this. But here's what I'd like all of you to do if you want something off of the truck.

I am going to put all this info into a spreadsheet to organize it and will FOR SURE be with the truck this weekend to pull all the stuff you guys want. Pulling a bunch of stuff for forum folks this weekend. Planning on pulling the engine either way...sorry tho, harness is all cut up so anyone who'd want to drop a 3FE into an early model or FJ40, you could...but you'd need a wiring harness.

Sorry...seat belts are all spoken for and also 3 points in the rear started in '89 so this bad boy does not have em!
Don't recall if it has a hitch or not but will check and let you know this weekend and if it does have a hitch it's yours In2! Motor is being pulled and just the shell will be going to the boneyard...again motor is not spoken for as of yet. Could I purchase the alternator / ds motor mount bracket? I need the bracket that bolts to the motor.

Engine is pulled...compression test ran prior to pulling motor and all holes well above 150 (have photos) and most near 180.
Coolant was green...oil is full...and as I've stated much earlier I ran the engine prior to cutting up the wiring harness and it sounded good-that is no knocking!!! Motor will be complete, with intake, throttle body, injectors, all sensors attached to engine and of course the oil pan. I don't know what a fair price would be but I figure $400 seems reasonable huh? I'll post some images of the engine tonight if anyone would like to see it. I do still have the thirds and you're about the 9th guy who has asked about them! No body seems to be able to pull the trigger. I'd sell the pair for $250 plus dead cost of shipping if you think that's fair? I will be pulling the housings off the truck this Saturday and then pulling the thirds when I can, which might be another two weeks or so as I'm out of town again next weekend. Lemmie know...
