To prime or not to prime

I purchased a 1991 FJ80 this spring in excellent condition with the exception of the the clear coat on the hood and roof gone. After months of this driving me crazy I've finally decided to paint. I got NAPA to color match my paint with nason single stage acrylic enamel and the question is to prime or not to prime. I have had conflicting anwers to this question. I was told by NAPA that as long as all the remaining clear coat has been removed and sanded and no bare metal is exposed I would be able to shoot it with no problems. I'm hoping the answer is no due to the fact that I live in buttf*@& nowhere and it's a 4 hour drive to any paint supplier.

No, you do not need to prime. NAPA is exactly correct.
