Help me fix rust on rear fenders -1st gen 4runner
So I have an 86 4 runner that is in awesome shape.
There are 3 trouble spots. Passenger rear fender #1: ![]() Passenger rear fender #2: ![]() The other spot is like the passenger fender #1 except that it is on the drivers side, and at this point is just bubbling paint. I would like some recommendations on how to fix this. Of course I don't want to spend a lot of money, so I would like the best bang for the buck. I am more concerned with stopping the rust than having a 100% quality repair job. Can I sand down the area, fill, prime and get some color matched paint in an aerosol can? Thanks in advance. __________________ Mark Janzen Born to lose and destined to fail www.mntoyx4.com www.coloradolandcruisers.org www.myspace.com/manjerk |

I'm no body shop guy but I would sand it all down and find how deep has that rust got you. If is just beyond the surface I would treat it with Metal Ready by POR and use a thin layer of body filler. The you can to a $50 paint on everything.

same place mine was rusted... take off the pannels on the inside and it will be on both sides... I sanded it down as much as I could. POR 15 both sides, then used POR body puddy, then POR again. then painted it... I also bought bushwacker fender flares to cover it up... that was 2 years ago... in MN winter, never wash it... the only place it is starting to come through again is where I could not get POR on both sides...
