Re-paint same color - different finish
Hello, first time in Paint & Body.
If i ever re-paint my fj62 I will definitely keep it the same color, the dark gray, but was thinking about a satin-ish type finish. I've read that deglossers can be added to clear coat for the right effect. Since the Toyota gray is a metallic paint, can it still be given a duller finish and look right? I really like the utilitarian look of duller satiny finishes, but I'd want it to be a quality looking re-paint. |

give it a try. if it doesn't work you can always sand it off.

yes some clears have a matting agent that can be added. I would just use a prepackaged satin clearcoat, rather than adding matting agent to a regular clear.
