Panel bonding adhesive

Has anyone used this and do folks have experience with this?

I'm in the process of fixing the "A" pillars on my BJ60 http://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wa...st-repair.html and in talking with a body guy he suggests that I use a panel bonding adhesive to glue on the new rain gutters I'm getting made up.

I need to know if I can use a rust neutralizer and then primer the area before gluing or do I need to glue to bare metal?

He also says that the bonding adhesive can be smoothed out and that I may not need a seam sealer after gluing this up.

Would make sense if you didn't want to set stuff on fire and burn up your paint.. I'm sure a proper adhesion/surface prep is key...

You need to have it bare metal, the bonding agent will seal it from the elements and you will not need the sealer.

Correct!

As long as the bonding agent is mixed properly! 50/50 or 60/40...whatever the case may be. But most bonding agents come with a tube that automatically mixes the material together. Just remember to clamp the panel down and ensure you are using the agent within the proper room temperature.

those epoxy 2 part glues used for bonding need bare metal. Or extremely rough paint. I've seen instructions on tv saying 36 or 40 grit sanding prior to bonding.

If it was me the area that is to be bonded I would sandblast rough. Then goop on the bonding glue. Enough so that there is no air in there. Seal the edges well. Then prime with rust proof primer. Then top coat.
