that happens. I burned thru plenty of spots. the labour kills me.

to thick and the orange peel takes years to wet sand. To thin and you burn thru. That's why lots of coats is best.

If you use 2000 grit after the 1500 is limits the polisher time. The polisher can burn thru very easy.

Also stay away from the corners and edges.

Well took her wheelin a lil bit last week nothing big but went through some brush that Texas pin striped the hell out of the factory paint. There were some marks but they wiped off with my hand. So far so good! The heat is definatly down from the sun and dark green. And this color absorbs the flaws much better. Looks crapy under artifical light but thats because I didnt wet sand enough. Now lets see how long it last.

I THINK IT ENDED UP COSTING MORE LIKE $80 BUT I USED THE INDUSTRIAL HEAVY EQUIPMENT RUSTOLEM. NOT BAD AT ALL EVEN IF IT ONLY LAST A FEW YEARS.

Lawman,

LOL you didn't have to take out a mortgage for the paint money though.

I talked to my local paint store, that carries Rustoleum and Pittsburg, and they recommended Pittsburg industrial coating. They claimed it's less expensive, better quality, and can be color matched to anything. Has anybody tried Pittsburg Paint.

Not sure yet.... My kid's favorite color is blue... he wants me to paint it blue. I have all the junk to do it the real way... but would like to see for myself how good this cheap system holds up. I like texaslawnmans color though.

Brought mine in yesterday to have a new clutch installed and my mechanic didn't believe I painted my truck with a roller. He was amazed how good it looked.

Might as well try it out. You can always sand and spray if you don't like it.

i want to give this a go, i want to cut the rear quarters as well as the rockers. is there a product like a sprayable primer/filler any one can recomend??? as well, what size wire to use for the mig? i got rust on the doors that needs to be grinded off badly as well as my wheel wells need some love. probally a lot of work in prep. it'll be more of a trail mobile so i can handle some imperfections.

Hello all, I have a question about this because I am really thinking of doing the roller paint job on my 80 series like Texaslawman. My question is I live on the east coast and it seems to rain quite a lot and I don't have a garage so I am wondering about a time frame how long to paint the whole body (no body work needed) and how long for paint to dry, overnight, a couple days etc..? Before I would start to wet sand? Another question is do you have to sand truck to bare metal for it to stick? Or can you just scuff original paint? All reply's would be great help. Especially TEXASLAWMAN!
