I have a mechanic friend/neighbor tell me last night while we surveyed the new FJ project sitting in my driveway that there is a company that you can rent a "portable" spray booth from.
He went on to claim that the company will come out to your location (residentuals included) set up the booth for you and leave. When you are finished you call them back up, they tear down and pack up and leave. Watching the "reality" tv shows such as all the hot rod and truck build shows like Overhaul'n. I know they have portable booths, but really? come set up and tear down for you…for cheap as well? could it be possible? If so, where would you look to find such a company?…discuss __________________ Bear not as young as I was once was, but 'bout as good as one knight should be! that goes where??????

Anything is possible. I would expect an aluminum tube building covered in vinyl with some lights. I would also expect that you need to supply the sprayer and compressor. Don't know for sure.

I would bet by the time you rent that stuff, you could pay a pro to use a permenent booth to shoot your paint. Especially if you decide to do all the body work yourself.

booth
I would not count on the booth to filter everything out of the room, as good booth designs usually use water to trap any incoming dust and it uses pretty good size fans, also the output of the exhust will surely piss off your good neighbors, unless maybe your in the middle of a 100 acre ranch...
I would recommend going to a couple local paint booth's and talking to the owners an seeing if they will rent you a booth for the entire day... i used to do this when i left the body shop job and started a new career. It's important to let them know you will leave the booth in the SAME condition as you found it in and that you will not do dumb stuff such as spray walls etc... yes it happens. You need time to tape it off and then spray and walk away and pick it up in the morning... unless your going to trailer it. as you probably will be since you'll be pulling all your glass out as you better not be taping off the rubber around the windows etc etc ![]() 2cents __________________ Northern California. 1987 FJ60.
