New PA resident...

Hey guys..

Just wanted to say hi.. The Cruiser Chick (my wife) and I are moving up to the Danville area in August, from Raleigh, NC.

We'll likely be renting a house/townhouse for a year which likely means my 'Cruiser will be sitting in a storage unit or something similarly undignified until we find/build a house, or luck into a house with a garage to rent.

Really sucks that PAP is closed since it's only like 40 minutes away, but Rausch should give me a good fix when needed and it's only about an hour.. considering right now the closest spot for me is 2 hours away.

Hoping to find something like we have with NC4x4.com for a "local" wheeling crowd of varied makes, as well as a forum for hi-po cars (DD/soon to be weekend toy is a modded Trans Am) and a curve-seeking sportbike group. Any leads on those would be appreciated.

I apologize in advance to the Toyota purists - If it makes you feel any better, my Cruiser was pieced together from various parts destined for the crusher and wheeled for 10+ years full-bodied.

So.. hi!

LOL
That there's funny...

Just PM Zucruisers or me when you get into town and we should get together.

I am moving out of PA Sept 1 but.... are you gonna be here in time for the Pig Run at Rausch? There is a thread in this forum on it... should be a great time

just drop your cruiser off here...i'll take good care of it(i promise i wont roll it over)

i mighhht be able to see if my neighbor would let you store your cruiser in his garage, or since jeff's trucks will be leaving here around that time it could stay here, but that would be outside

Wow, that's a monstrous 40 you're bringing. If my garage was built, I'd offer storage. Welcome to PA!

Brett

I'll definately drop you guys a line when we get to town. Zucruisers.. what are you doing with the buggy in process? Look forward to seeing it. As for rolling my junk... It really takes some trying. With 1/2 the total weight as unsprung weight, it's got a low CoG to say the least..

We're heading up in a few weeks to check out rentals and some land we might buy, so if you guys hear of anything decent for rent, do let me know.

My 40 fits in a standard height garage still..

Lugboot.. hurry up & finish your garage!! I pay rent

We'll be in frantic house packing mode when the pig run is going on, since we close on our current house Aug. 15.

Thanks for the welcome guys.. and I promise, if we get enough land, there will be a small rock garden.

Sorry I cant help any with the Trans Am but a place to look for some sport bike info is www.nesba.com

Anyhow see you on the trails somtime.

the buggy in progress is basically part of a tube chassis, axles, and engine/trans/tcases laying around the shop...i never have time to actually work on my own junk

my dad has 50 acres that we play on here, nothing really challenging, but its something to do

i think my neighbor's house is still for sale, its an old brick farm house, on about 10 acres i think, with a huge barn that was just rebuilt a few years ago because of a storm that took the roof off, my dad said they want about $100k more than its worth though, i really have no idea, but figured i'd mention it to ya...oh and its less than 10 minutes from danville

Hi Eskimo welcome to PA. I was born and raised in Danville, its a great little town I can't wait to get back to. I'll have to stop by and check out your rig sometime if you don't mind it looks like a pure beast.

Come on up... The door is open and there's always a cold beer for a fellow vet.

Good news, I got offered the job at Geisinger, and I think we found THE house. I had planned on building, but this place is too good to pass up. I don't want to jinx it, but there's a shop (complete with a finished upper floor) already built and ready.. just needs 220v run, concrete floor poured, and a vehicle lift installed, and we'll be jammin!

We're also going to be in need of an excellent interior re-modeler - the master bedroom and bathroom is large, but there's no walk-in closet or shower, so we'll be re-doing the bathroom as soon as we move in. I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest, but the saying "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten" does come to mind...

These 2 pieces (especially the job) are the last 2 big pieces of the puzzle. Wish me luck on the house, and be on the lookout for a red Chevy 2500 with a Captain America-mobile on a trailer rolling up Rt. 11 in mid-august!

oooh now i'll have somewhere to go when i need a lift

sounds like you've got the major stuff worked out, whenever you get a chance stop by, my house is less than 2 miles off of rte 11, about 5 miles before danville when you're going north

if you need any help moving in just let me know when and i'll try to be there...where's the house at?

i'll ask around about good remodeler's and let ya know if i come up with anything

Good deal! Glad you found a worthy abode. Definitely makes the transition easier...and the landscaping's done already!

We built ours two years ago and the outside still isn't wrapped up. It's getting higher on the priority list, though.

Wow guys, thanks for the offers of help! I've always said Cruiser guys are the best... jeepers sure wouldn't offer help like this! guess y'all are trying to build up some "lift-time credits" for the future?

The house is just a little north of Danville off Kaseville rd, before you get to I-80. it's only 4 miles from the hospital, which is the closest I've ever been to work. We submitted our first offer this morning and they already came back with a very fair counter-offer, though he doesn't want to include the tractor that was in the garage.. :(

Yeah, I have a pretty darn good idea what I want in a shop, actually - I've been planning it in my head for YEARS. This one is a little smaller than I wanted, but hell - it's already there! Lots to be said for that.

The offer was accepted by the sellers, and we close on the 18th!

Still in salary negotiations with the hospital, but I'm gonna really try to get them to pay for relocation... (But once the concrete pad gets poured in the shop, I could use a few hands for a little bit one day to move the air compressor and my toolbox into the shop from the garage - it's a gravel driveway..)

Looking forward to meeting you guys!
