I'm hoping that someone this forum has lockers on a FJ80, and that person if able, can take a picture of their rear locking diff wiring harness where it enters the chasis.
Here's my nightmare thread: http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...-location.html Feel free to help out and like I said in the thread a picture is worth a thousand posts. Thanks, John __________________ 1994 Green FZJ80 Locked - But not currently Locking EZ Pass Son of Moose http://www.carrfuneralhome.net/?p=146 |

John,
I could be wrong here, but I read some of those theads and I was always under the impression that you need to fabricate that rear harness.... no? __________________ Rob 97 FZJ80 Coll Ed CDL Switch/7 Pin Mod Aussie Locker Rear Slee Headlight Harn HIR's Slee Step Sliders Slee Trans Case Skid ARB Non-Winch ARB Skid REVO's-road & TRXUS MT's-dirt 130K miles ALL SYN OIL(S) |

My 95 has lockers. I can see about getting a pic this week--I'll try to bring the truck to work one of these days.
Would that help? Would give me an excuse to clean my throttle body, anyway. I assume you'd like this sooner than later?

I've already given up on that. Sean's the apotheosis of manly.
Chris--if you don't get the pics before, I'll bring my truck to work Thursday to snap a couple in the garage. I don't feel like crawling under it in the dirt and snow and the ice and the mud at home.

Pics
I hope these are what you're looking for.
1. is the rear quarter--you can see the drain sticking out. 2. is along the frame rail from the rear quarter. 3. is inside the fender well--you can see the harness thru the crack. __________________ 1995 FZJ80 -- Factory Locked, 2.5+" OME w/ 850s and 863s, CC Plates, BFG AT LT 285/75R16, Extra stuff bolted on, replaced, inserted, thrown inside and put on top. FINALLY! A picture.
Yes a wiring harness must fabricated once the actuator harness makes inside. On all FJ80 trucks there is a way to penetrate the truck through an existing harness and it is this harness I am trying to find. I have to plugs/connectors (from the actuator harness) that have to hook up to something outside and in the back of the truck - I just couldn't find the connection. I think this picture finally shows where to look for those connections. Thank You! __________________ 1994 Green FZJ80 Locked - But not currently Locking EZ Pass Son of Moose http://www.carrfuneralhome.net/?p=146 |

Glad you finally got the pic you needed. Maybe you should link the pics to the 80 thread so they know what you were talking about.

No new updates on this situation, I wanted to find an existing wiring harness in a junk yard but most of those folks will pull the axles out of the truck and then sell the truck for scrap. I have a couple of guys on the main board running things down for me, but they are not really in a hurry to get the parts to me. One of these days the locked 80 will lock. Its been a long road.

Is it not possible to use the FSM diagram to make a harness... it's still wire and connection, relay, maybe a solenoid.... have someone trace the wires and draw a diagram and copy it.

That's true enough Jeff, but there are special connectors needed for the locker at least. For full retrofit, there are connectors needed for the ecu end if used. I bought my harness for the locker connectors basically. I cut off the other connectors and made my own for the cabin end. YMMV

I called Cruiserparts..net and they found the harnesses that I need, it will cost a couple of bucks but I am tired of calling junk yards and dealing with lazy people and I was hoping that someone on the forum might have 93-94 that they are parting out and would sell me the harnesses, but they were not super motivated either, so, I went to a retail outlet and scored what I was looking for, hopefully the right parts show up. After this is done I have to tackle the knuckle/birf replacement.

Installed a Kaymar bumper this today - without the directions, and all in all it turned out OK. The bumper looks very nice and I just have to figure out how to rig the lights and what configuration to go with. I have this idea that I can rig them to the nomal brake light / turn signal harness - then with a secret switch illuminate just the drivers side rear light (continously) during days/nights of low visibility.
Has anyone done this before? If so chime in, I could use a little help. __________________ 1994 Green FZJ80 Locked - But not currently Locking EZ Pass Son of Moose http://www.carrfuneralhome.net/?p=146 |

I still have not purchased the factory harness from Cruiseparts..net, somehow things that are more important keep coming up. I just scored that bumper, the rims are coming in on Wednesday and I still have an A/C problem that has to be addressed - I blew the high side line charging the system on Saturday, it was that long line that runs from the passenger side to the drivers side - I know it is going to be biach to remove.
You wouldn't happen to know where I could score one of those harnesses? __________________ 1994 Green FZJ80 Locked - But not currently Locking EZ Pass Son of Moose http://www.carrfuneralhome.net/?p=146 |

there about 100+ bones from the dealer ship. I scored mine in a trade with the local guy that specilizes in toyota stuff.
I can hook you up with a nice easy wireing diagram so you dont have to find a factory locker computer and switch. Really though you should just get this. I have the ECU, rotory switch, dashlights and the all of the actuator harnesses. I feel, no I am compelled to go that extra mile and those F***ing OEM wiring harnesses, and when it's all done, no one will know the difference, I think I am going over the edge!

It comes down to installing 2 harnesses that no one wants to sell, people are generally lazy, and if they have to go and dig through a truck to get the part, chances are that they won't and that's were I'm at. CDan has 1 harness for $140 and the other goes for $360, altogether that's $500, at this point I am almost have enough money to score that ARB bull bar that I |
