Placed a parts order, so I should have most of the parts I need except for the 1" body lift that a buddy is taking off of his runner this weekend. Planning on finishing up the fenders and getting some pictures with the 35's on it, maybe fix the Tacoma frame as well.

Ok here is a picture of the finished firewall trim

Then put 35's on the front

And then the rear after I got the 5" shackle installed and rear u-bolt flip

Still gotta do brakes, rear shocks, front driveshaft and some little stuff.

That thing looks purposeful. Nice. Mad Max-ish.

Thanks, probably never see the road, there will be a little more clearance once I get the 1" body lift on for a little extra clearance and then I can weld the sliders on as well and build bumpers for it.

Got the front drive shaft lengthed last night with some 2" schedule 40. It isn't the staightest, but it will never see high speed so not too worried about it. Also stripped the rest of the interior to finish off the fender cutting to seal up some of the welds and cuts. I ordered up a 1" MC and will pick up some brake pads this week for the V6 calipers. 1" body lift should be here either the end of this week or early next.

Will be placing an order for a BudBuilt crossmember with 1" drivetrain lift next week, since I sold the rear tube bumper I have on the Tacoma. Maybe pick up a Marlin Crawler rear bumper as well unless John would want to make one for me, have to ask him.

hey, JT--did you see this?

http://forum.ih8mud.com/chit-chat-se...epurchase.html

due to premature frame rot?

dunno how valid it is, but if it's on Mud, it must be true.

No didn't hear about that, it would be interesting to see if anything happens out of it, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for the heads up on it.

Got the rear shocks welded up and installed. Also raised the drivers seat about an inch for better visability and took the rear adjustable lap belt and installed it on the drivers seat. I hate wheeling with the shoulder belt and usually wrap it behind the seat, the lap belt will work out much better.

Ordered up a set of new front brake lines that are longer for when we do the SAS and allow me to bolt the line directly to the V6 calipers I got. Once I get them installed I am going to see about state inspection, which it should pass.

Also contacted the local Toyota dealer about the frame rust issue and the "bulletin", they hadn't heard about it, but upon further looking they found it and the truck will be going in in the near future.

depending on who you take it to, it might pass state insp., but i can tell you right now it legally shouldnt pass, the main thing i see is the sharp sheetmetal edges, but oh well

are you gonna try to bring it up on the 22nd?

Yeah, not done with the sheet metal, gotta get some edge molding, it's on the list

I am going to try and bring it up, gotta get the tow bar setup installed and get the tow hitch on the Tacoma and a wiring harnes as well. Or maybe use Dads 4 Runner since it is already set up to tow. If not I'll most likey be up for the morning with the Tacoma.

Tacoma goes in tomorrow, but at least I may be getting a new Tundra as a loaner, hopefully with the tow package that I requested

Tacoma was dropped off this morning and am now driving a 08 Double Cabe Tundra with Tow Package, just like I asked for. We'll see what the dealer says about the Tacoma in a few days.

Yeah, that would be great, but I think I would hate the 13.7 MPG real quick. If they offer me enough to buy the Tacoma back, I may pick up a new 4 Runner or Tacoma, the Tundra is nice but almost too big and is a gas guzzler.

Well the Tacoma qualifies, got the call this morning. Had to send them an itemized list of aftermarket stuff on teh truck to see what they will do about that, hopefully either let me strip it or give me a decent price for it. Either way I am looking at the new 4 Runners and should get a nice check back from Toyota if I decide to do it, about what I paid for it back in 2002

Who'd a thunk it, save reciepts that I never thought I would need, I guess thats my fault. When I bought the truck back on 2002, I figured I would be driving this truck until the engine blew or beat the shit out of it offroad. We'll see what happens next, waiting for a call back.

Holy Jeez. There's no way you can let that thing go with all the toys still on it if it's getting turned into a pancake. dang. Which dealership? We'll hop the fence and pull everything.

I may have to have an inproptue wrenchfest at my house very soon to strip the truck, we'll see what they say today and how far I can take it down.

Well I got my number from Toyota, $13.5K. Looks like I am going to take them up on the offer, plus I get to strip the truck of the aftertmarket stuff. Now looking at an 06 Double Cab or 4 Runner

So, you fall in crap and come out smelling like roses often?

Seriously, that's awesome.

Better make sure you pick something you can get two kid seats in!

Apparently with this deal

Looked at a 05 4 Runner and a 06 Double Cab Tacoma at lunch. Just gotta make up my mind, probaly the 4 Runner isnce it has more room, but the car seat test will be the final check

Great, the back seat area looked enormous on the 4 Runner. I wish the Tacoma had more room in the back, I would probably go that way. Now the thrashing begins to get everything off and get it back to Toyota in 2 weeks and get all the new truck financing and deals made. The wheeling 4 Runner may not totally be done for the April ride :(
