Well, let me know, cause if I order today or tomorrow, I can have a Trail Gear setup to my office by Friday. What are you asking for it?? I couls also just get the front crawl box and adapter setup from you and give you one of my other cases for ease of removal and install.

Oops, looks like the crawl box you have is for a forward shift tranny, I have a W56 and need a top shift, looks like I would need just the adapter and associated parts.

blah blah blah...the zuk will be movable today or tomorrow, just not done yet...i'll have room for the mini soon enough
besides, selling the adapter just means more work for me to do, and more $ to spend too

and yeah jt my front case is a forward shift, if i were to post the adapter for sale i was going to ask for $300 shipped, the parts were installed, and have never been ran once yet, would $275 work for ya?...if you really want it before this weekend i'll make the time to get it pulled apart...ill just have to place my order with marlin sooner than i was thinking

I can do $275 if we want to install it Saturday as well, it is 21 spline correct? Don't want you to kill your self though if you have more pressing stuff.

It would be sweet if we could get the engine swapped and install dual cases, just hope the engine going in doesn't have any issues and we can gettting running well. Probably wouldn't take too long to swap in duals with the number of people.

Ok John, if it isn't too much trouble, I'll take it for Saturday and hopefully we can install it too. Probably just re-weld the stock shafts or I can tackle that later depending on time.

I guess we will need any of the required/special tools for a dual case install as well.

So what time are you planning to start JT?

I will be bringing a pack and play for Eva to nap around noon in a room if ya have a room she can use. This assumes we are starting in the AM.

Earliest I can be there is about 7:30 if I leave here at 5:30AM. Hopefully the turnpike will be clear by then.
See you all Saturday!

Yeah, Eva can sleep in Addy's room , Addy usually goes down around 11:00 or so and is out for about 2 hours, so that should work out well.

As for starting time, I will be in the shop probably between 7 and 7:30 to fire up the heater so it isn't too cold I was out there last night without the heat and it wasn't bad at all. So pretty much whenever you want to show up, but I would imagine the earlier the better incase of any issues.

Whatever time works best for you, but 7:30 should be good.

So you will be able to bring all of the following for the adapter:

Dual Adapter Parts List:
21 Spline coupler
Adapter plate with bearings installed
Bearing spacer
11 Studs and nuts
Drain plug
Rear transmission output seal
2.28 Shift knob
Snap Ring
Shifter keystock
Detent plug
Three paper gaskets

I have most of the tools for the install except for a 30mm socket, gear puller, 3/16 Diameter Pin Punch and snap ring pliers

ill pull it apart tonight or tomorrow, i should have almost everything, as its all installed
i wont have the output seal, i'd assume its in my trans, and hopefully i have the shift knob, its probably in my box of toy parts...and the gaskets should still be good, the shifter keystock is tacked on my shifter rail, it's just a tiny piece of metal, i can make one if ya need me to

i have a 30mm socket i can bring, and snap ring pliers, i might have a pin punch too

Is the output seal 100% necessary?? I have metal that we can make a new keystock from.

Sorry to be a pain, I tend to over analyze things and be a little OCD

Alright picked up the final parts this morning, so we should have everything, I hope. Picked up a tranny rear output seal, rear main engine seal, cap, rotor, plugs, upper and lower radiator hoses, and gear oil for the tranny and transfer cases.

For the new engine we will have the oil pump and crank pullies to install, some vacum lines and the damn coolant bypass hose that I can't figure out where it goes :( rear main seal, flywheel, clutch and TO bearing.

22re Engine is pretty much ready to pull, unbolt the motor mounts and tranny bolts. Figure out what we want to do with the exhaust, you'll see when you get there, but nothing bad, pretty easy actually. Once that's done the engine is ready to come out.

For the dual cases, I have a good complete topshift case that I want to use for the rear case instead of the one in the truck, we can use that one for the crawl box. I haven't done anything with the tcases yet, but it shouldn't be too bad to get out just a little crammped since the truck is on 28" tires. We can shorten the rear 2 piece shaft to make it work until I build a new front and rear shaft out of 2.5" Schedule 40.

Anyone think of anything else?? Thanks again.

we got the old engine pulled, pulled the tranny out, got the new engine ready, assembled the dual cases, dropped the new engine in, and put the tranny/tcases back in, i think JT has a little bit of the wiring to plug in, install the radiator/starter and battery, and cut a hole in the floor for the 2nd tcase shifter/reinstall the shifters...that should be about it

It was a good day overall. Pizza was good. Donuts were good. Beer was good. Working on the 4runner was a good learning experience. (Note to self.... buy a few more 14mm wrenches & sockets.)
I had fun. Can't wait to see it on the trail!
I'll post the pictures after work tomorrow.

What a day, I can't say enough about the guys that came down to help out I owe all of you big time, I would still be pulling the engine if not for you guys John prety much summed up what is left to do and there is a little bit of other stuff. Hopefully I can sneak off and get some things done over the next few weeks plus the upcoming vacation for X-mas will help me with trying to get the truck on the trails for the run at the end of the month.

The only issue that I have at the moment is from looking at the front driveshaft position is that it looks like it may not clear the tranny crossmember?? Have to do some mockup and measuring to see, soon enough.

John that sucks about your ride home, wonder what happened.
