quadrajet tuning help

I just installed a rebuilt quadrajet on my v8 fj40, and i cannot figure out the idle on this thing. My 350 has a mild cam and intake and the carb screams over 1000 rpms, but once it idles for more than a 2 minutes at 650-700 rpms, you can watch the rpms drop slowly and oil pressure gauge drops down to 20-25 psi and motor stalls. All vacuum nipples are plugged.

I have adjusted the idle screws correctly from 1 1/2 turns out all the way to 4 full turns out, and nothing helps. I have drilled out the idle screw passages .03 of an inch, which is supposed to be correct for a mild cam.

am i missing anything else?

i really dont have a way to test timming, that was my first guess but i broke my timming light. Motor ran fine though when i pulled off the old holley double pumper.

What's your vacuum? Sounds like it could be a leak. You also might be dripping fuel out of your primaries causing you to load up. Does it run rich before it dies?

using a vacuum gauge like gumby says, can make a world of difference.
