Simple here,
Who is in, who is out, who is heading out when?

Me I will be heading out thursday am, I will have my son with me and plan to stay till Sunday.

I need jim to respond to email and set me up with a rebuild kit for a 78 2f carb that has been desmogged. Other than that I am ready to go.

Dave

At this point I'm out. I don't have $600 to drop on fuel plus another couple hundy more for the rest so I can wheel for 3 days.

I plan to make the TTORA ride at Harlen in August. Probably a couple other local rides at Badlands and Interlake.

Hotmail sucks,
Tried one on the crackberry, Maybe I can get it there,
I understand on the fuel Nick, But for me it is the closest decent sized rally.

I may leave early Thursday and try to wheel the afternoon. Otherwise, I am wheeling Friday and Sat, leave Sun morning. I am probably bringing my son on this trip.

$600 on gas is alot, I figured about $300 max for me. I have been saving my fuel perks so I am going in with jerry cans before the trip, should save me about $100.

Remember, I'm starting at least 3 hours further west than most of you. 1200 miles at 10 mpg = 120 gallons of diesel x $5/gal = $600 plus the $140 entry fee, camping, food and gas for the crawler; easily over $850 for the weekend. Maybe I'd get better milage but I doubt fuel is gonna get any cheaper. In then end it's a pile of cash to throw down to play for a few days. I figure I can hit 2-3 local events for the cost of this one trip.

10MPG? You oughta just drive a FJ60/62 and get 15MPG.

Or else put a towbar to the front bumper of the FJ40 and fergit that gianormous trailer. My old 7.3IDI would get 14-15 flat-towing an FJ40.

I will just plan on Fri and Sat and go home on Sunday. Dave let me know what time you think you are haeding out. I have not set time as of yet.
I will be taking the Blu Ox 60 once I get the new clutch in this week ohh and a few other mods that need to be completed.

We will be heading to Echo.

Mapquest thinks 76 is faster,
I took 80 across then tried the confusing backroads way on the way there, on the way home I took the interstate to 80 and back, Not any faster that way just less confusing.
I think I will be heading out thursday am, Hopefully by 8 or 9, Kind of depends on how long it takes to load up the truck and get on the road, It will also matter on whether or not Aiden comes with. we will see on that one.
Do you need a hand with the clutch Matt? give me a call if you do, Aside from trying to go fishing I do not have a lot going on till sunday.

No help needed with the clutch. I had a major leak start between the trans and tansfer that means they will need to come out. The rear main was also soaking the clutch so a new one will go in while it is apart. I can only dream of a cruiser with no leaks or least one with a small leak. The only real PITA will be getting the skid plate back on the PO messed up all of the frame nuts by using lag bolts in the holes. I will need to drill and tape those.

I will check out the maps and see what is best way I agree the backs roads were a little slow in the loaded 60 with hills, can you say slow truck lane. Keep me posted as to your departure time.

Update on the OX

Clutch done, new rear main seal done, new seals between trans/transfer done. The problem was there are two dowel pins between the tranny/tranfer and I only had one. The transfer shifted and sucked the gasket in so the oil leaked out and fast. New seals on the all around both units the old ones were like glass instead of rubber I guess that should be the 25 year PM. Also replaced the side cover gasket on the old 2f along with complete rebuild of rear brakes. Next up is the locker.

It's easy,
grab a wire coat hanger from the dry cleaning before you start. You will use it to install the c clip right before you button it all up. My sister is in town starting tomorrow but give me a call on my cell if you get hung up.

How does that Echo Valley camping work, do you need to make reservations for primitive spot, or do that when you show up.

I have not had time to fix my junk yet...but I am still scheduled to go

If you are tent camping you just show up. No reservation needed. I recommend either heading out thursday am or letting Matt or I try to save you a spot.

How old is Aiden? I am trying to bring activities for Cole (7 years young).
It might work out good if we camp next to each other so the young dudes
can hang out. I have a 10 X 10 canopy, etc.

So lets say the first one gets (2) sites. Anybody else interested in this chime in.

Don't remember a pool,
Aiden is 9 now. If there are trees and sticks and somewhere to explore he will be in heaven.
I will call you tomorrow.
