Tips for Carb Solenoid installs Jim C
I figured Jim could help on this one. Any tip to changing out the carb solenoid on my 80FJ40 it stopped working and I have no idle? I have the new toyota part adn just wondered.
This carb was rebuilt by Jim 5 years ago, when will it need another one? Thanks MJM __________________ TLCA #10802 04UZJ100 83FJ60 Blue OX 80FJ40 |

Did you troubleshoot the problem to verify the solenoid is bad?
Usually the solenoid is good, but the engine fuse blows, or the computer craps out and no longer provides a good idle signal. The solenoid just unthreads w/ a 12mm open end. Carb rebuilds are a 10yr/100K maintenance item, IMHO. __________________ Thanks, Jim C. TLC Performance Underhood Janitor, cleaning up other people's since 1988.

The engine or emissions fuse. See the FSM for that year to find the exact location of the fuse. They move around in the fusebox over the years. __________________ Thanks, Jim C. TLC Performance Underhood Janitor, cleaning up other people's since 1988.
