I'll be riding at Badlands March 22 with the Hoosier Cruiser crew. All are welcome. See the thread in the Hoosier Cruiser clubhouse section.

Also planning on CMCC and Yankee Toys Fall Gathering in NH in Oct.

Beyond that a few "local" rides with Hoosier Cruiser, BBS and ????.

I'm planning on CMCC, but that is contingent on logistical issues that remain from last year.
We'll prolly stay at the hilton or sumthin. Just not that same campground.

Nick, what kinda junk are you wheeling?

Is TTORA open to stupid ol' land cruisers?

Thought it was for fool injected IFS minitrucks?

...or what's left of one anyway... Still has a 2F but now TBI'd followed by an SM465/4.7 Toybox/stock 4sp t-case which is connected to a welded 14 bolt with disk brakes and 5.13 gears in the rear and a custom hi-pinion D60 in the front. Front also has 5.13 gears, but on an ARB instead of welded, chromo shafts, Longfield u-joints and drive flanges. All sprung over with flipped stock springs on 42 x 17 Swamper IROK's mounted on H2 wheels. Reworking the winch mount now (my Ramsey 9.5e didn't fit the bent 8274 mount). Will be reworking the top bars on the cage, swapping in a one ton truck master cylinder, moving the seats back so's I fit in a less folded manner and adding traction bar. Further into the summer the 4sp t-case is being swapped out for a minitruck case (rear axle is centered but the current t-case is not: funky driveshaft angles are not cool IMHO).

Long as I plan far enough in advance to save up fuel $$$ I should be able to make a few rides this year.

Nick

Marty,

Late May might work for me. Depends on having $$$ for fuel of course. Would like to check that place out on a low key ride. Better if it's a long weekend deal so we can wheel a couple days. Makes the cost hurt less. I'm willing to use a vacation day or two if it works out that way.

I'll do some checking with the boss and see what works for her. Obviously Mothers day is in there somewhere. But I could possibly do Memorial day? probably crowded? or the last weekend/first weekend of June. I'll have a tough time keeping up with you and Nick, but I understand that there are a lot of bypasses on some of the big obstacles.

Marty,

While I like the long weekend idea of Memorial Day I REALLY don't wanna deal with the traffic...both gettin there and on the trails. First weekend of June sounds good too. Much after that and it gets too close to CMCC. I'll need time to fix whatever breaks in Harlen ya know...

Oh, while my truck might have a few mechanical limitations the biggest issue is the driver and his lack of experience wheeling this rig. Goofing around here in the back yard is helping me get more comfortable with the rig but I don't have much more than a couple berms and ditches to play in. I can flex the rig out and have air under the tires but it's not the same as playing on a nice rock garden...

The 1st weekend of June (6-8) probably works the best for me as far as i can tell. We can call it an official meeting since there will be at least 3 of us. possibly May16-18th also.

I better start driving the 40 around.

I'm interested in first weekend of June. But way behind in the shop. If enough work goes out the door before the end of May, I will go.

Keep posting and we'll see if we can actually get a club run together.

So this is harlan Kentucky you guys are talking about right??
Thats 8 hours (according to mapquest) from here. anybody on the northern end of the plains want to spend a day either way going down?? Not sure if I could pull it off with work but I thought the drive to CMCC was a long one (fwiw about 6 hours there)

Dave,

Yes, we're talkin about Harlen, KY. For Marty it's about 4 hours; 5 for me in southern IN. CMCC is at least 10 hours for me probably closer to 12 with the trailer. Then it's all relative: I used to drive 6hrs to wheel Paragon once a month from Boston. Drove to GSMTR in 2000 from Boston: 1000 miles one way. 2 days driving each way and I left my saggin wagon in camp and rode with other people for the weekend and had a blast! Of course I made more $$$ and gas cost less... Now even the 3 hour ride to Badlands requires a month of planning to make sure I have the cash.

I am not saying I am out, I am thinking hard about it, Rausch creek is fun and all but I would like to wheel some other places than just there once a year, I am just trying to figure out the logistics of it. For me that is a drive down on thursday, wheel friday and saturday and drive home on sunday, at least that is my thought process. Which brings the next question, Do you guys camp somewhere nearby? Hotel it? I am a tent and fire pit kind of guy but not sure what that entails.

Dave

My budget guides me towards the tent and firepit...as long as the campground has showers. Those near the Harlan trails do. Your logistics mirror mine. Drive down Thursday, maybe do a quick trail or two then wheel F/S and cruise home Sunday.

More info on the area can be found here: Kentucky Mountain Trails of Harlan County - ATV and OHV Area

Hope a few folks can make the trip down.
