3.73 ratio third members from a FJ60 to an FJ40
I was reading on the main MUD site that using a 3.73 diff from a FJ60 would give me a better highway driving than my stock gears - 4.10s.
I am running a V8 with an SM420 and was wondering what "improvement" I would get. Has anyone done this or know anything about how this might change my ride. Any ideas, __________________ Joe Brooklyn, NY 67' FJ40 |

Hey Joe
I've read the exact same thing... 5 speed, and 3.73 will allow higher speeds, lower revs... I wish I knew what was involved in doing the gear swap tho... A |

Swapping diffs 60 to 40 is nothing except putting them in and dealing with the different driveshaft flanges... can be done in a number of pretty simple ways... Oddly I have 2 FJ60 diffs sitting here on Long Island looking for a new home... ;-)
