Found my old FJ40

An update...you may have read that I recently found my old 72'FJ40 while walking in Manhattan a few weeks ago. About 18 months ago I sold it via ebay to a Doctor living in Vermont. When I saw the truck it had New York tags I couldn't believe it was back in NYC.

I left a note on the dash and today I received a call from the current owner and got some of the details on his purchase and the trip back to NYC. I told him about the club and that it is a great resource for learning about a cruiser and meeting fellow cruiser owners. I am emailing him with the club details.

I am glad the person who bought my cruiser keeping it up and running - even though he is faced with a few of those electrical problems that I never could solve 100%!

I attached a picture of the truck in case any of you see it running around - NYC or Long Island.

Older Picture - Before I painted

Here is another picture of the truck before the paint was done. The paint was done by a guy recommended on this board. His name is Bob and he has a little shop in Long Island - Long Beach area.

Very nice. To have ID'd your old cruiser, it musta been the chrome that caught your eye first. Then the aux tank. Who painted it orange, the doc or the current owner?

I've been trying to find my first one, but only have the vin, and without dmv search capability, I've got bupkis.

Where are they now?

Maybe we should post up pictures of our "sold" trucks under a thread - Where are they now? and see what we can find.

Who knows maybe we can track a few down. Might be kind of fun.

Bob and Paint

Hi,

Bob's number is 1-516-697-8534. Yes, his pricing was good and he did a great job. He doesn't have a paint booth, so it is not perfect. I knew that ahead of time and there were some small imperfections in the final paint.

However, it was perfect for an FJ40 that is going to be run off road and parked outside. And, five years later the paint is still holding up. What really impressed me was his body work - did a nice job and took care of a lot of little things. He painted the inside and outside of the truck, which is a big job.

I am planning on using him again when I paint my current truck.
