I was going threw the Introductions Sticky and relized that I had not introduced myself the Mud way.

My name is Josh Kern, and I also have a problem. Landcruisers are my addiction. My FJ60 has been in the family since it was new. I believe it had three miles on it when my parents drove it off the lot in 1984. It was to say a family car for the first part of its life. It was used for hunting, fishing camping, and getting grocerys.

I have done my best to maintain it. It has a rebuilt 2F with 225,000 on the clock. It has a meduim OME lift with 33 10.50's. Those are really the only modifacations. I have Black nerf bars, but plan on replacing those with sliders.

I have only been able to attend a few meeting (last Year), and able to only attend one run out to High Rock. I enjoyed it so much I plan on continuing to a BBCNN member as long as I own my 60. (Always) I have been to two TLCA sactioned events (Mcgrew, and PMC swap meet) I will return this year to the Mcgrew trail ride.

The 60 is no longer my daily driver I have 96 Tacoma to accoplish that task. I also have a 71 Fj40 that is in the process of a frame off "redo". I would'nt call it a restoration, I'm not that good of a mechanic.

Anyways I'm right in the middle of building my wifes "DREAM HOME" in Adin, CA. (North of Susanville on HWY 139) I work for CAL-FIRE and usually don't have much free time in the summer, except for vaction that I have to plan for the October before. I love to hunt, especially out in Nevada for Chuckar, and love to fish. Anyways just wanted to introduce myself, I might be able to attend some meeting this summer due to a Job location change. Thanks Josh Kern

Hi, my name is Will Berry, I'm in Washoe Valley. I've got a comatose '74 55 that I'm about to triage. It's been a member of the family for 30 years, we're hoping for the best. Seriously going to need to learn to weld. I haven't sorted out where your next meeting is, but I might drop by the Eastlake 7-11 before your Jumbo ride.

Hi Will,
Our club meetings are always the 2nd Tuesday of the month (unless it happens to fall on a holiday then we move it typically back 1-week) at the Round Table Pizza (in the party room in the back) almost next door to the Raleys on Peckham and South Virginia (diagonally across from the Atlantis Casino). at 6:30PM.

Come check it out...

Dan (1 of a few Dans)

Its in the shopping center just south of the Atlantis casino.
I really dig those 55's. If you need help, lemme know...Its fun to see other people (besides myself) go broke wrenching their cruisers to life!

Look forward to meeting you!

By all means come to a meeting.
And feel welcome to show up for the run. Almost any 4WD should do fine on this one it's pretty mild. Or if somebody has an open seat I'm sure you could hitch a ride.

Welcome. Sounds like a nice collection of 40's. Stay tuned for info on runs, it's kinda slow at this time of year we get more active as the weather gets better and more trails open up.

Hi, I'm Adrian and I'm out here in Yerington. Picked up a 74 FJ40 back about 9 months ago. Since then I've been addicted to cruisers. Have some work that needs to be done to the beast, but not in a hurry. Hope to meet up with some of you guys on some of the runs.

Hi Wolf! Great wheeling; I doubt if you'll want for more wheeling opportunity. No state income tax. Reasonable property taxes. Liquor in the grocery stores , 4-seasons..."winter" can last 6-weeks or in some years 6-months; real estate is not cheap to buy; utilities are on the high side.

Everyone has their own opinion on where to live in the area. Spanish Springs (Northern Reno/Sparks area is good but traffic jams back and forth to Reno during peak hours will kill you. South Suburban Reno ("Double Diamond"/"Damonte Ranch" developments are good values right now. Unless you like earthquakes I'd avoid the Northwest area of Reno.

The public schools are average. Personally I think the parents have more to do with what a kid gets out of any school than the school/school system itself.

Come to one of our meetings and introduce yourself: We'd all like to meet you.

Dan (one of the Dans...)

Yeah,
Scott's got the bug BAD!
He even has a schnazzy landcruiser key chain!
He's done a REALLY nice job on his rig thus far and has more plans yet to come it sounds like!
The bumper is BEEF!

He does need to get out and get some wheelin under his belt.
Hate to see a rig built like that be a pavement punder!

Hey Wolf!
Im a Chicago native and I LOVE it here, though I could do without winter all together.
I live in S. Reno (Damonte Ranch) and LOVE it. Its quiet, traffic isnt too bad and its close to everything you need with the exception of NAPA auto.
Great fishing, hunting and 4 wheeling.

Keith

Rubicon is an hour SE of us and Fordyce is an hour NE of us, I'd say the wheeling is pretty good. There are also a ton of trails in the Sierra, and more in the Virginia range.

Average would be a kind description of the schools here. You will need to be very proactive about your child's education.

I live around the corner from Chicago, it's a nice neighborhood and there are some good values there right now. In addition to the housing in the Reno metro area there are a lot of decent houses in Fernley which is an easy drive from Reno to the east. I work in Sparks and about half the people here commute in from Fernley.

Looking forward to seeing you at one of the meetings or on a Trail Run.

Dan (Yes another one, I think the Dan count in the club is at four or five now.)

I guess I need to get serious about building one or the other for the rubicon, since its that close.

Hi! My name is Whit. I went to the meeting on 5/13/08 and kinda sat and mostly listened. Seems like a lot of great guys with a pile of knowledge and I'm looking forward to meeting/getting to know/wheeling with all of you.

I'm basically from Reno. I bought a '73 FJ-40 last October, rescued it from Modesto....had some decent mods when I bought it, spring over, shackles, hi-steer, 33s, 350 w/ turbo 400 tranny....but also some problems...super squirrely on the road, mystery electrical short, overheat.......spent most of the winter fixing those things, adding: oil & tranny coolers, new radiator, painless wiring harness, shims to adjust camber, gate shifter (to replace slap shifter....anyone want the old one?)....and basically have been back on the road about...oh, one week.

I don't know all that much about cruisers, except that I've liked them since I was a kid and couldn't wait to get my first one....fer example, I have knobs that I have no idea what they do (did someone say "sounds like a personal problem?")...don't know my gear ratio, kinda embarassed by some of the chrome on the rig (I'll replace it when I break it)....etc. Also interested in adding a few new mods, including: air lockers, some armor, a spare tire, gear/tool rack.....would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Anyhow, I look forward to learning what you know and having some fun. BTW, one of the Dans wants to spec my spare gas tank....just lemme know and we can pull it out on a weekend...no prob.

jumping for joy.

Whit

Hi Whit, thanks for coming to the meeting.

I think we can help you with your knobs, that didn't sound good did it?

I think we can also help you spend money on mods, we are here to help.

I'm the Dan that was eyeing your aux tank, they usually call me Rusty Dan or just Rusty.

Thanks,

I'll probably ease into it.....it's been awhile and I need to improve my technical driving skills b/4 I follow you guys into Fordyce....but soon enough, huh? Also, for those of you who were eyeballing my 40, if you saw anything wrong, weird, ass-backwards, likely to break or dangerous.....please feel free to say so.....
Thanks, and looking forward to a run...

Yeah, you might want at least one locker before you try Fordyce.

Hello all, my name is Chris and I am new to the Cruiser business. I live in Fallon and soon I will be a member of the TLCA and hopefully Battle Born Cruisers. I have had my 40 now for almost 4 months and I am terribly addicted. I have always wanted a 40, but never had the pocket to get one until I happened across a screaming deal...(IMO). I have been a Toyota guy all my life, owning a small fleet of mini trucks to 4Runners and also a 93 YJ.

Now to my rig. I am the proud owner of a 1972 FJ40. It is mostly stock, the only thing it had aftermarket when I bought it was a header. since owning it I have installed an OEM roll bar, cb with external speaker, painted it tan, 31x10.50's, jerry can mount, cherry bomb muffler, and I have started the process of trimming body fat that has been attacked by rust from Montana.

Future mods include: 4 inch lift, 33's, Aussie in back, lock rite in the front and a set of 4.88's, custom built sliders, full cage, jeep or raider back seat, discs in front, relocating tail lights, winch and a soft top. There are plenty others in store, but I guess all of them will come in due time and when my wallet and allows it.

Thanks for all the ideas on Mud and looking forward to seeing you guys at a club meeting shortly.

Chris
