Lowrance Baja 540C discontinued
Just an FYI for any that might have had this GPS on their wish list: Lowrance has apparently discontinued the Baja 540C and the Baja 840C. They haven't replaced them in their line-up which leads me to believe they won't.
Yes it is somewhat large form factor but it really is fantastic for off-road navigating without compare!

That is pretty surprising, I thought those were fairly popular. Too bad someone still isn't making the "perfect" on/off road gps.

I'm convinced the perfect off road GPS is a small PC with a GPS hooked to it and some good software.
That said the Lowrance unit is pretty closed to my idea of perfection.

True. But if it worked...didn't mislabel highway #'s, was easy to upload routes and download tracks/trails I could justify it. But I'm sure its far from 'perfect'...which seems so strange to me considering how advanced computers are in relative terms. But I'll have to wait for a detail review from some other guinea pig .

I like the display better on the new one than ours. I'd like to fondle one before I buy it, but I don't know why, I never played with the 540c before I got it.
Anybody wanna buy a slightly used 540 and map software?
