Weld through primer

Can any of you experienced welders tell me which weld through primer is worth using, and where I can get it? I'll be welding a new layer of sheet metal to my door as seen below, and would like to prevent rust where possible.

Well you dont want weld through primer for starters as most of it make it hard to weld and can cause perosity you would be better off welding everything then clean it up and then primer when its cooled off and yoiu can also use some stuff called rust mort if you can find it put it on after your done welding first then clean and primer over that. the Rust mort will also take out most of the rust in that area and help to keep it out

Thanks Dan.

In this case, I'm welding one piece over another, so I won't have access to prime after welding, I just want to prevent rust between the layers. Is there something that would work for that?

Np at all the other thing about weld through primer is youll burn pretty much all of it off in the welding process. if you use Rust Mort or something similar to it it should do the trick and if i remember right you can get that at Napa Auto parts stores

I've used the 3M product.

Not real impressed.

But then my welding isn't real impressive anyway.
