That's neat! I've tried unsuccessfully to get Sandy interested in at least learning how to drive on some of the more mundane trails...it just makes sense from an safety perspective.

I just told Jo about this tonight.
The biggest problem I see is getting the 40 back after she gets a taste for it.

My Mom learned how to drive towing a 22' travel trailer, after my Step Dad got squished under it when a jack kicked out. Better to learn without the extra stress.

Sounds great as long as the wives don't scream bloody murder at each banging and clanging sound from underneath.... Mine is afraid to "hurt her", aka the "other woman".

I'm still going, but solo. We are leaving for Oregon the next day so wants to stay home and pack. She also scheduled Jake for a bath and a hair cut. Given Jakes current aromatic state I think a bath is a priority, nobody wants to spend all day driving with a dog that smells like he died a week ago in the car.

Surgery is always fun. Hopefully you'll be able to make the run.
So next weekend could be another fun day. If I get denied this time, I think it's a sign...

I beg to differ, I very much remember spinning the 33's (and 45's) and having all of the fun of putting a penny or nickel on the stylus to weight it down for worn out records. I didn't get to listen to George, my parents didn't think young children should be listening to George, so I didn't get any George exposure until much later.
I even had the pleasure of selecting the next track of an 8-track player.
Jack
P.S. I am older than I appear, besides I live by the motto that "You are only as old as the woman you feel." That's why I got one that is 6yrs younger, that also happens to look younger than she appears.

So...you were spin'n when you were...what...3? We were at a party Saturday night...and there were kids there. The game everyone had to play was "get an actor/actresses name taped to your back" (it was outdoor movie night...which was pretty cool)...anyway one of the teens had John Wayne. He didn't know who John Wayne was...damn it sucks to get older . (notice I didn't state "old"...just "older").
Damn cradle robber...

Jack,
Youll be fine.
The trail is a worse off than it was last year...more rutted, boulders have traveled etc, but Sean (silverscout) made it through with 33's.
There is a decent line at the gate keeper if you stay to the right. I was leader, and I had to do some schnazzy back and forth, but everyone saw the line AFTER me and walked right through it.

The fact that the kid didn't know who the Duke was is just un-American, that's right up there with Bruce Dern shooting John Wayne in the Cowboys.
And yes, get 'um young and train 'em right, that's what I always say. (Of course I shouldn't have picked one so strong willed)

Three rigs showed for the run.
D and I in the 80
RustyDan in his 40
Will and his wife in his white Ramcharger
We hit the trailhead and aired down and did all of the usual trail prep, including mosquito spray up the wazoo.
Just as we were starting, a couple of quads wanted to get by, so we let them and the lead guy promptly rolled on the first obstacle and the quad landed on him. Luckily, he wasn't hurt and we got him back on his wheels and they were off.
We all got through the first obstacle amazingly fast and just kept going. We didn't take any pictures and I don't think anyone else did either. Sorry.
With three rigs, we just kept on rolling. Other than meeting some traffic coming the other way, we were making great time. Will found a tree with the left rear side/tail light, nothing major just a light scrape.
We got farther down the trail and Will had to do a little wiggling to get the ram through some rocks/trees and backed into one of the trees to get a better line. Well he hit the rear bumper and the body right above the right taillight. Left a dent in the bumper and above the taillight. The lens was still there and everything was still working, so still doing well overall.
There was a tree that had fallen and been cut sitting at an angle to the trail, with a big rock opposite of it. Will found the tree with the lens of the right taillight and broke the plastic.
That is the sum total of breakage. We made it out to the campground and aired back up and went our separate ways. It was a good day other than the blood sucking bastard mosquitos, they were hungry and not easily deterred.
To those that didn't go, you missed a good one. Like I said, I didn't take any pictures. Sorry.
Jack

Jack summed it up pretty well.
I think we may want to revised the rating on this trail, it was a bit tougher than last year.
Like Jack said with just three rigs we moved along pretty fast, I didn't take any pictures.
I did get some video, I'll try to post it up.
Edit: here we go

Will found a tree with the left rear side/tail light, nothing major just a light s****e.
Sorry.

I'm in agreement with the uprating of the trail. Wasn't expecting it to be that technical. While it was fun, man, I was worn out when we got done. Been awhile since I paid that much attention to driving.
As for the body damage..... Two new taillights and about an hour or two with some tools and I should have most of it fixed.... That's what I get for not looking behind me, and assuming that the tree wouldn't try to jump in front of my truck to protect his friends...
Total carnage for the trail. One favorite t-shirt, two taillight lenses, several new scars from the downed tree we trimmed... a rear quarter panel dent, Jack's pinion bearing.... and a memory of some unknown guy screaming when his quad landed on him and knocked all his wind out.
Overall a great day on the trail. All except for the fact that Ramchargers are FAT and Jeeps/Yota's are SKINNY..
I don't feel too bad about the truck's performance, considering it's basically stock with a trash lok rear and a power-lok front, with Junk yard front springs and add a leaf rears with the overloads removed. We may just have to keep the nickname "The white Whale" now that we've proven it's WIDE! especially if we keep going places where the trees conspire against fat kids
