Bummer...can't go that weekend. The Carson should be running high...take vids of the stream crossing...I'm curious if the hole is still located where it was 2-years ago or if its been relocated.

Well with the lack of intrest and unseteled weather the venue has been changed.
Will be camping @ lake Alpine on hwy 4 , doing day trips out of there .

( Mt Reba , Slickrock.)

I plan on getting there Sat morning , stop by if you like.

Lake Alpine is just past (West) the trail head of Deer Valley.
The Slickrock trail starts / ends at Lake Alpine.

fyi the store , lodge , restaurant are open @ Lake Alpine.
As long as there is a spot avail, the pop up will be @ the campground ( they are opening the camp @ noon today)

I figured you probably ran into snow. We drove back up to Smoke Creek Desert yesterday for Planet X's annual Memorial Day weekend party/sale and into the Granite Range again. The sky conditions were just plain awesome! There were areas you could see the rain a dumping; mountain tops getting dusted with snow; and still other areas untouched by any precipitation. Inspite of all the rain around the Black Rock Desert had lots of dust plumes!

And we only ran into a couple farm trucks on the Smoke Creek road...and nobody up at Melody...except us and the Pronghorns!

It was a neat weather day to be out and about...but probably not in the mountains!

So did you get any camping in?
I was thinkin about you and I was real close to trying to find you on Sat.
I was wanting to wheel, but I ended up ASSIN out all day for the most part...
I did make it down to PnP though. It was nice lugging my bag of tools in the clean fresh air of a bone yard!

Ya my girls toughed it out , we camped all weekend and hit some new trails.

I played it on the conservitive side ( alone and no winch ) and did not push it.
But we found some cool spots and even got in a little hiking.

Misssed you guys , sounds like you folks had a good weekend.

Glad you all had a good time despite the crappy weather!
You ALMOST had a guest for the day saturday...I was seriously on the fence about heading out to meet up with you, but...last minute ideas, historically, usually do not pan out so well for me.
Seeing the pics and hearing the reports, Im glad that I opted to stay home for the weekend.
As fun as Rubicon was last fall...for a Chicago native...Im a PUSS when it comes to the cold anymore.

Lemme know if you and big D have anything planned. Im wanting to get out!

Meh, the weather is the weather it just makes it interesting.
Yes it would have been nice to have a little more sun.

I was kinda worried about people coming from the east , They re closed the pass.
Im not sure how long the pass was closed but that would have kinda sucked.
